You can't cross out someone else's typos or mistakes, surely?

Well that didn't work! And I did exactly as suggested; hyphen, then used cursor to insert another hyphen in front of the initial one, no spaces, word, then hyphen and further hyphen inserted before it! 🤔

As I learned from FGT first do the hyphen - then go to the left of it and do it again so have you got this -- ?

Then write your word, then do your hyphen and again go to the left to do your last hyphen so you should then have this it’s a real long winded process though

Claremont as you have not been a user of Gransnet for very long I am wondering if you are mistaking the reason for the crossing out you referred to earlier on this thread.
A long standing member of GN used to run a Skool thread. It was a lot of fun. I think what you refer to is something to do with the old thread and is only intended as tongue in cheek humour. It's not two faced or rude. Just meant in jest.
It's understandable that you have taken it the wrong way because you are not aware of what has gone before.

What did you type, GrannyGravy? There should be no spaces between dashes or words, but there SHOULD be spaces before the first dashes and after the last dashes.
If I use smileys instead of dashes, what you have typed should look like this crossed out words would give crossed out words --__

It’s going to the left of the hyphen that makes the difference

Yep, went to the left of the hyphen, then placed the other hyphen, did the same at the end of my word - just tried again, but on previewing, it's still not working! Wonder if it's because I'm on a tablet and not a phone or computer?

It works on my tablet.
