Mumsnet to be sold. I presume Gransnet too.

I was on Mumsnet but left due to the rudeness from some posters. Due to where I live I often received the "bulletin" a day late. On commenting I was belittled for not keeping up with the posts. You had to be ready to comment about 2 am or else you needn't bother. Only one member suggested it could be due to internet.

Maybe we're just in shock, at the thought of the potential loss?

Hopefully they will modernise the site.

I love Mumsnet, I like the varying subject matter. Its more fiesty and I don't have to watch my language.
I enjoy Gransnet as well and I would hate to see it go. I like both for different reasons.

Yes, but it could be done as a group within Mumsnet, they already have them for other groups. Anybody can already join Gransnet, so it’s not a safe space really anyway, it’s just that we have a lot of regular posters.

I posted on page one that I wouldn’t buy it. I also stated that
MN have been subsidising GN.
Amalgamation won’t work.
Justine has a conundrum. She wants to expand MN so has to raise money but no hedge fund investors would touch a loss making social media site, that’s unless they have a social conscience.
But they are a bit low on the ground, aren’t they 🤷‍♀️

I glance in to Mumsnet on rare occasions but it is so fast moving it's all too much!

We do need to increase traffic on grand net, though, if a potential buyer wants to regard it as viable. It does get rather quiet from time to time.
After all, they will be in it for the profit, not for altruistic purposes.

I’ve been on here years and it still seems pretty small & quiet in comparison to MN. I’m not sure GN needs its own site and could easily be incorporated back into MN, which I’m sure was the case originally?

She is a harrbnosed business woman, just look at the money she has made with Mumsnet. Multiple millions of pounds

She is looking for the best deal. We willl have to wait and see what happens to Gransnet

I don't agree with this at all.

In the early days, Justine joined in with threads occasionally and has interaction with us.

I don't mind her making money from something she was brave enough to set up and which has given me enormous pleasure, and help, over the 14 or so years that I have been a member.

I hope it doesn't become slick and blingy - i like the homeliness.
