It’s only a few more weeks until the holiday season is upon us and schools are closed for Christmas. Sky has developed an app for children full of their favourite TV shows and is interested to know what TV programmes you’ll be watching with your GCs over the holidays.

What are your favourite TV shows to watch together? Are they the same ones as when your children were young, or even when you were young? What’s your routine for watching TV shows together? Do you snuggle up on the sofa in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate? Maybe you watch a quick show together on their tablet before bedtime? Whatever you watch, Sky Kids would like to hear about it.

Here’s what Sky has to say about the Sky Kids app: "the Sky Kids app is a tablet app just for the kids and full of their favourite TV shows like Paw Patrol, Scooby Doo, Octonauts, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, SpongeBob SquarePants and more – all available to watch on demand and at no extra cost for Sky’s Variety and Box Sets Bundle customers. The app lets you set up a personalised profile for each of your GCs with shows tailored to their age and their very own homepage with their name on it. You can also set time limits and put the app to sleep whenever you want – YWBU not to!"

Please share your favourite programmes to watch with your GCs below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one Gransnetter will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list)

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

no TV or TV license so we watch no TV with our grandchild

etheltbags1 Sat 17-Dec-16 22:44:08

I have sky but it is going once the contract ends there are many more cheaper options now to get other channels, however DGD has the full package and will be watching any postman pat, fireman sam. I have these on DVD so she can watch them. If shes at my house we will watch any Disney film but 'frozen' remains her favourite. Shes just turned 4 and any fantasy with princesses is still her choice but balanced with the male heros I already mentioned. I will record any family film to watch at our leisure, she likes bedknobs and broomsticks and famous five.

We don't have Sky so it will just be something on 'normal' tv. CBeebies panto maybe. The Snowman, if it's on - still a real classic. And then with the older ones - Strictly Christmas Special (not a childrens programme I know, but something that we all enjoy as a family).

Daytime TV is never an option for our grandchildren. We love to play outside if its dry and if we are in play games, build things with lego/duplo, bake, craft etc. We don't have sky but the children sometimes choose a programme before they go to bed and its often been Thomas the Tank Engine, Octanauts, Q Pootle 5 or Postman Pat. Havent seen them for a month or two so I am looking forward to finding out their choices when they visit at Christmas

My 4 year old granddaughter loves Peppa Pig, but also likes Paw Patrol and Ben & Holly. In the Night Garden and Topsy & Tim sometimes. Looking forward to seeing We're going on a bear hunt as we've read the book to her loads and she loves it.

I love watching the old Christmas movies and family films like the Nativity series with my youngest grandchild around Christmas time.Christmas day is not really a TV watching day in our family though-we prefer to play games together and generally just enjoy each others company.

We tend to watch old British sitcoms, they're still the best tv around!

Freya loves Octonauts. We all have to shout 'Octonauts to your stations!' when it gets exciting. Actually I really like the programme too as it teaches care for the environment and other creatures. After discussion with Freya we have decided we like Peso Penguin the best because he can be very brave even though he often feels scared.

GandT Thu 15-Dec-16 14:57:24

When visiting my DGC, whose parents have Sky, we will join them to watch plenty of Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom, which is the grandparents favourite too, and also Paw Patrol. There are bound to be a few DVDs such as Stick Man and Frozen. Very necessary to have a singalong!

collins210 Thu 15-Dec-16 14:48:34

We love 'Grandpa in my Pocket'. Always makes me laugh.

GrannyLondon Thu 15-Dec-16 12:53:35

We will probably watch Bing, my Grandson loves it & I'll swoon over Mark Rylance's voice.
As a family we all love Furchester Hotel.....Ah, remembering Sesame Street. A nice bit of Christmas madness.

Have a lovely Christmas everyone.x

P.S. Can't stand Murdoch either! So I really hope I win & will donate the money to any of the Unions that have tried to fight him.x

I doubt if we'll watch much TV with GS over Christmas even though we are spending Christmas Day at his house, but when he is offered a movie to watch in the evening when he is here he seems to be locked into "Percy Jackson Lightning Thief", any Harry Potter movie or Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness Monster! I don't get his obsession with Scooby Doo, but hey! There are worse things to watch..... aren't there hmm?

Grannymoz Thu 15-Dec-16 07:33:11

We've just got sky again on a good deal and have the family from boxing day. My granddaughter loves peppa, paw patrol.and is still frozen obsessed so we will look out for those. My grandsons a bit older and enjoys the sports channels, especially the motor racing which he enjoys watching with grandad.
We will no doubt have sky movies Christmas on at some point

wondergran Tue 13-Dec-16 22:07:58

We will sit and watch several episodes of Octonauts......my little GS often outstands me with his ocean knowledge .....all gleaned from his favourite programme

ellenemery Tue 13-Dec-16 19:55:48

We watch very little tv on Christmas Day. We will definitely watch Dr Who though as most of us like the show. Our 8 year old grandson is brain damaged and cannot walk, talk or see but he loves the music for Thomas the Tank Engine and rocks back and forth in his wheelchair to it.

hulahoop Tue 13-Dec-16 19:20:35
