With both our sons now living abroad and being lucky enough to visit each of them twice this year we are having to rethink our planting so that we don't have to ask our neighbours to do lots of watering while we are away. I'm also trying to reduce the number of pots on the patio but changing to larger ones. I'm away now and I know it has been dry. Just hope our newly installed irrigation system worked!!!

After concentrating on a growing garden for several years my focus this year is very much my back yard garden which has been totally neglected.
Pots are either to be rejuvenated ie painted on the outside and replenished with additional compost inside or discarded if they are too broken or worn to find any use for them. I hate throwing things away if I can reuse in someway. I have wood to create a new planting area for which I have a kitchen herb garden in mind.
There is a pot of metal paint waiting to rejuvenate metal chairs, when the weather is better, to go with the little mosaic table. I am looking forward to sitting out in the evening with a nice little drink and enjoying all the hard work of all the replanting and replenishing that has gone on to create a lovely patio kitchen garden to be proud of, enjoy and feed all, including the birds and bees. Ah bliss!

I'd love to put in a little pond next! :D

I'm not much of a gardener. I have planted a few pots up and hope they will grow. Sometimes I don't know the difference between plants and weeds.

New fences, gate and decking, laying some artifical turf, putting down decorative stones and if I have any spare money, I would love some garden furniture and a BBQ

We have just this week moved into a housing association supported bungalow after quite a few years of living in a FFFlat without the opportunity of having its own front/rear garden and it is such a pleasure to go outside into the back garden,so we have a task in front of us (helped by family)the DCs have bought OH a shed to keep his 2nd hand garden tools and are helping him do a small veggie plot and a build a bird house,on another part of the garden we hope to buy a table and chairs which will enable us to eat outside during the summer months this time next year should show a massive difference.

sootyo Wed 26-Apr-17 15:57:30

My plans are to spend more time enjoying the garden with family and friends

floorflock Wed 26-Apr-17 16:30:20

I would love to have a new patio, revamp the bird feeding house and relocate the birdbath to a better/more suitable spot. The gravel needs to be replenished and a few more shrubs would be very handy indeed.

Abouttojump Wed 26-Apr-17 16:50:12

Hubby wants to completely redo our back garden this summer. We'll be taking up all the old plants and reorganising it, buying some new plants and starting from scratch.

badgermum Wed 26-Apr-17 17:10:13

We have removed our old decking and have plans to relace it with a Mediterranean style patio area, with a curved low white washed wall, then the other side i'd love to have a colourful and fragrant flower bed

beelzebomb Wed 26-Apr-17 17:22:34

To finally get the patio laid at the top of the garden to be able to catch the evening sun each year in June and July.

liz1970 Wed 26-Apr-17 17:51:59

Looking for red plant to grow up an 8 ft south facing wall. Any ideas out there?

dirgni Wed 26-Apr-17 19:04:14

My garden is only 2years old so I will be continuing to watch it grow and mature. Also make notes of things that I think may enhance it eg some baby pink tulips!

kamoc Wed 26-Apr-17 19:54:25

just to keep on top of the grass and hedge cutting is my goal

live7 Wed 26-Apr-17 20:20:36

Our garden has been 'invaded' by a couple of different plants. Ground elder and pampas grass. (may not be correct names but something similar anyway) We need to tackle that as well as the bindweed and borrige.!!

NanaandGrampy Wed 26-Apr-17 20:38:50

We're moving and leaving behind our secret garden, full of beautiful plants we planted over the last 22 years . We hope the new owners love it as much as we did.

So we have a new blank canvas that is nothing but grass .

We need inspiration, plants and expertise !

nancytownsend Wed 26-Apr-17 20:40:10

Having four dogs and a small garden, it's a bit of a dog toilet out there these days. It does tend to kill off the grass. So this year, my goal is to hopefully level and reseed and have some healthier grass by the end of the summer. It's not going too bad so far. I've done about a third, but the weather this April has put me off doing much so hopefully I'll get more done in May.

hulahoop Wed 26-Apr-17 21:49:51

Our garden is very wet due to poor drainage I would love to get that sorted I can't sit in direct sun due to medical issues would love a 2x2 gazebo

Grannyknot Wed 26-Apr-17 22:09:12

My garden goal is to move a Dicksonia tree fern because it doesn't like its current position (it says it's too windy there) smile

We are in the process of landscaping our garden to include a gazebo and patio area. I am widening and adding flower borders to allow for more planting and to create curved pathways through the garden. We are also planning to build a pergola over the existing path which I will cover with various scented climbers, clematis and a beautiful wisteria. Later in the year we are hoping to add a greenhouse where I can grow plants from seed and experiment with tomatoes, peppers & chillies. We are looking forward to having a user-friendly space where we can have barbecues with our friends and neighbours and enjoy seeing our grandchildren playing in the garden when they visit. I just love gardening and being in the garden, it is good for the soul (but not so good for the poor old back!)

angiehoggett Thu 27-Apr-17 08:51:39

I need to get my patio sorted, greenhouse cleaned out and ready for growing my tomatoes.

happysouls Thu 27-Apr-17 09:37:58

Where do I start! I've not had access around the side of the house to get the green bin around there to fill it. So everything has gone wild! I've just started filling a smaller bin and carting it through the house and will continue to fill the green bin every time it is empty until my plants are tamed! Along with that I want to sort out the rotting wooden balcony and create a great sunbathing area, but that is subject to funds!
