Going on a cruise can be a great way to see the world all in one holiday and what can be even better is sharing that experience with someone you love...be it a friend, family member or even extended family & friends. Who you go away with can really alter the type of holiday you have for the better; do you bring your always-up-for-an-adventure cousin or perhaps you’d want to take your partner because they’re more relaxed? With this in mind Holland America Line would love to know who you’d take on a cruise and why?

Here’s what Holland America Line have to say: ‘Holland America Line’s elegant hotels at sea are perfect for all holiday makers. Whether you wish to go solo, with a partner or with extended family, there are destinations to suit every traveller, and a lifestyle for every passion - whether explorers, foodies or music lovers…’

'From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed as a friend. Settle into your spacious stateroom and your room steward will pop by to ensure every detail is in order, taking a moment to learn your name to greet you personally every day. Throughout the ship you’ll find service is gracious and attentive. Never in the way, yet always close at hand.'

Do you have a big family and you’d love to take them all for a whole host of different reasons? Is it your partner you’d like to bring with you because you both love travelling and exploring new places together? Perhaps you have a group of friends that you have non-stop laughs with that you’d love to bring along? Maybe you’d like some quality time with your children and/or grandchildren? Or even if you can’t think of any friends/family you’d like to bring, what about if you could literally take anyone in the world on a cruise? Why would you choose them?

Share who you’d take on a cruise with and why on the thread below and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Seeing the world without flying!
OK…I’ll admit it. This is my reason for cruising. Waking up at sea, sipping coffee on my balcony, no dogs/cats/kids to contend with, hours of uninterrupted writing time, plus exotic and historic ports around the world just waiting to be explored with my darling husband Peter.

If go with my youngest daughter. We often go on breaks together and are of the same mind, like doing the same things and never get fed up with each other's company. Well, maybe she does! ?

My wife - this would be Grans-tacular !!

I would take my husband, and we would enjoy the 'cruise experience' together.

Neither of us have been on a cruise, though we have considered this. It would be wonderful to go on a wonderful adventure, and as we both enjoy similar things, we could see and do as we please.

Difficult, as it would be lovely to surprise a few people but in the end it has to be my husband so I could hopefully say "see I told you a cruise would be good" grin

Hubby and daughter. We’ve never been on a cruise before and would love to try this kind of holiday. ?

I would take my sister, she has had a lot of health problems over the past year and would benefit from a relaxing cruise, especially as she’s afraid of flying.

I'm not sure - I think my husband would hate cruising, he hates being cooped up and cycles hundreds of miles a week. I'd probably take my youngest son. He would like to go somewhere warm - perhaps Greece - whereas I've always fancied Norway.

I would take my best friend who also happens to be my hubby. He does so much for us an I know he has always wanted to go on a cruise.

My husband as in a few weeks have been married 25 years!!

I would take my OH. We have never cruised, but we agree that it may be an option if we get less mobile as we get older.

I would take my husband Keith, we have been married for 45 yrs this year, and shared many travel adventures together, some of them cruising. I have been in a writing group for about eight years, at our local library. So, always write a blog when we go on holiday. It’s a wonderful way to relive all of those memories, time and time again.

My three best friends! Us four girls were only talking about getting away together last week! We have all had a traumatic year in various ways and are in need of some man free chill space!

My lovely Husband.

AmberMarie Fri 20-Sept-19 10:43:23

Being recently widowed with family over 300 miles away - I would just love to be able to take my dear little dog!!

wallers5 Fri 20-Sept-19 11:05:19

I would take my long term partner who is a great explorer to make sure we do & see everything!

Septimia Fri 20-Sept-19 11:11:09

I'd send DS and DiL. They like cruising, I've never wanted to except, possibly, in a very small vessel with only a few other passengers.

And I don't like the disruption that the passengers cause ashore or the pollution caused by the ships.

I would only go on a Disney cruise and it would’ve withmy whole family. Son and daughter in law and two granddaughters daughter and son in law. Husband and my mum

I’d love to take my children and grandchildren on a ‘once in a lifetime’ trip to Alaska, while the grandchildren are still young enough to be blown away by the beauty of it all...and while it still exists. Seeing creatures in the wild really brings the message home about how precious this is and how important to preserve it for generations to come.

I’ve got a thing for Karl Urban at the moment blush can’t deny he often makes me go weak at the knees ! I’ll probably change my mind by next week tho and fancy taking my postman instead, as he’s very handy to have around. hmm

My friend Carol and I are thinking of going on a cruise for our 60th birthdays in 2 years time - I am widowed, she is divorced and go on holiday together.
