Going on a cruise can be a great way to see the world all in one holiday and what can be even better is sharing that experience with someone you love...be it a friend, family member or even extended family & friends. Who you go away with can really alter the type of holiday you have for the better; do you bring your always-up-for-an-adventure cousin or perhaps you’d want to take your partner because they’re more relaxed? With this in mind Holland America Line would love to know who you’d take on a cruise and why?

Here’s what Holland America Line have to say: ‘Holland America Line’s elegant hotels at sea are perfect for all holiday makers. Whether you wish to go solo, with a partner or with extended family, there are destinations to suit every traveller, and a lifestyle for every passion - whether explorers, foodies or music lovers…’

'From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed as a friend. Settle into your spacious stateroom and your room steward will pop by to ensure every detail is in order, taking a moment to learn your name to greet you personally every day. Throughout the ship you’ll find service is gracious and attentive. Never in the way, yet always close at hand.'

Do you have a big family and you’d love to take them all for a whole host of different reasons? Is it your partner you’d like to bring with you because you both love travelling and exploring new places together? Perhaps you have a group of friends that you have non-stop laughs with that you’d love to bring along? Maybe you’d like some quality time with your children and/or grandchildren? Or even if you can’t think of any friends/family you’d like to bring, what about if you could literally take anyone in the world on a cruise? Why would you choose them?

Share who you’d take on a cruise with and why on the thread below and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I realise I don't need a cruise to spend time with her , but would love to have the quality relaxed time with her and have the most amazing memories for a life time

No-one- as cruises are just not for me/us

I would take my twin sister, we have both put our families, being busy mums and wifes, and are both nurses, so have a difficult job, so to have a cruise together, just to sit, explore, dance, dive and dine would be so lovely. My DH does not have sea legs and would be really happy to spend the time on the golf course.

Do you have a big family and you’d love to take them all for a whole host of different reasons?

Yes I do, and I would take them all, as on a cruise ship there is always something to do, see - or nothing to do except find a quiet deck and relax. All of my family could do what they want, and I know they are safe on board.

Is it your partner you’d like to bring with you because you both love travelling and exploring new places together?

We would love to go together to a Nordic cruise, which the younger members of my family would not enjoy as much as us.

Perhaps you have a group of friends that you have non-stop laughs with that you’d love to bring along?

Oh yes, a week with 'the girls' on a 'Strictly' cruise is on the top of my cruise wishlist.

Maybe you’d like some quality time with your children and/or grandchildren?

Memories with my grandchildren would be simply amazing, seeing their smiling faces and spoiling them is simply special.

Or even if you can’t think of any friends/family you’d like to bring, what about if you could literally take anyone in the world on a cruise? Why would you choose them?

I am spoiled for choice with cruise destinations and family I want to be with (and hopefully them me) I love the atmosphere of a cruise, the joy, memories, sights and ports, if I had to pick just one - it would be my DH of 33 years as we are as one - like the same things and would love some quality time together.

I would take as many of my family as I can, we have done the holiday camp holiday, the Spanish holiday, and the British seaside 'costa' holiday. To take my family, having a cabin with a view, family eating and exploring the ports together, eating new foods, going to classes, seeing the stars whilst at sea, seeing the fireworks when you leave port - I'd rather leave my family memories rather than money.

I find I can manage with two or three intakes of Garlic added to meals and a little fruit and veg twice or three times a week!

bobble5366 Tue 17-Sept-19 12:25:09

I would take my husband, we have spend the last 30 plus years putting our family first, then running a Cubs group then a Scout group for 15 years, spending many a night under canvas with one ear always listening out for mischief. Our children are independent, and the luxury and intimacy of a cruise, along with eating new food, seeing new sights it would be a dream.

I have yet to go on a cruise but it would be a lovely way to be able to visit lots of different places around the world I have not had a chance to experience yet

I would take my husband, he cares for me daily without a complaint and deserves a treat I couldn't afford to give him

SheilaMary2222 Tue 17-Sept-19 11:15:28

My daughter as she needs a little break from her children and hasnt been very well. Would love to spend time with her and pamper her with motherly love and kindness. Also have a wonderful opportunity to experience new scenery and cultures.

Like many of you I would take my husband - cruised many times with the family when small and now just the two of us. Great to wake up at a different place everyday.

JosephineW Mon 16-Sept-19 13:23:34

I'd take my husband... I can't imagine him being very impressed if I didn't! Ideally I'd take the cat though!
