Twice. Once at 61, when I backpacked round the world, paid for by rent from our house and my husband’s pension. Bored after a few months at home afterwards, I went back to work in an entirely new field.
Retired again a few months short of 66, aiming to live off savings until pension age. I had all sorts of plans, many of which have had to be postponed due to an injury that is dragging on.
Despite, therefore, now claiming my British state pension, I’ve taken a short term, mainly WFH contract, until the end of this year. As that comes to an end, and another pension I have from overseas kicks in, we will decide what to do next. We have some ideas, but you know, man proposes…
