You have to respect water for what it is lovely to sit by and have a walk by but it can a dangerous beast and snatch a life away in a flash.

The Swan Upping day was georgeous. My son took me to Culham Lock to see it. One of my best summer memories. smile

I would not want to swim in the Thames!

I saw them take a body out when I was a little girl. They put it in a black bag.

Someone drowned a couple of years back jumping from a riverside pub window and trying to swim across. (for a bet)

Before that a young man died trying to get a football back. I happened to pass the police van parked on the bridge and the sight of the young woman's face (his girl friend) as she waited for the divers to come up, stays with me.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Thames.

If I can work out when he's he's likely to come past, yes. But I aint standing by that river all day. Why couldn't he have done it in the summer. I could have taken a chair then. hmm (I know its for Comedy Relief which must be coming up soon)
