Yes, snow over here and it's sticking! Woodburner on, home made hot soup, afternoon in front of the TV, dog snoring on her back in front of the fire - I love winter afternoons like this!

jeni Sat 04-Feb-12 13:04:29

It's snowing here as well.

Annobel Sat 04-Feb-12 12:58:39

Something white is falling from the sky here! Cosy afternoon is called for. I guess, gracesmum that you, as a Borderer, were brought up to be a rugby fan! I grew up with the voice of Bill McLaren and can still hear it in my head during a match. No other commentator can equal him!

Jacey Sat 04-Feb-12 12:42:05

hmm

jeni Sat 04-Feb-12 12:31:01

Told you to put your gloves on your hands not your feet. Serves you right for no t listening to nanny!

Jacey Sat 04-Feb-12 12:21:22

Sorry about typos in my last post ...that flight home really took it out of me ...obviously fingers still not defrosted!! hmm

Re the Murrayfield electric blanket Annobel my father was a rugby journalist and remembers the great Bill McLaren referring to the pitch (pre blanket) being covered in straw and thawed out with "brassieres" grin

I will be incommunicado after coverage starts at 1.30pm.

Just hope England play better then previously and as for Ireland v Wales tommorow - hopefully that's a showstopper!

Jacey Sat 04-Feb-12 10:18:12

It will be interesting to see how the re-vamped England team gels together ... just as long as France doesn't doesn't win the cup!! 9sorry GNs living in France!! grin )

gracesmum Sat 04-Feb-12 10:16:10

Six Nations - can I as a Scot, put myself through it?
That reminds me of being behind a McDougall's flour tanker on the motorway once bearing the logo and "Flour of Scotland" on the side!!

greenmossgiel Sat 04-Feb-12 10:00:34

It's snowing here now, Annobel! (Fife) confused

Annobel Sat 04-Feb-12 09:57:21

Six Nations starts today. Calcutta Cup - Go Scotland! Is it the kiss of death that they have been named as favourites? England the underdogs? hmm I hope snow doesn't interfere with this weekend's matches, though that could make it 'interesting'. Don't bother asking me what I'm doing this afternoon!
I remember the freezing winter of 1962/63 when Murrayfield first got its under-pitch heating. It was a big rectangle of green when the rest of Edinburgh was swathed in white!

WE were both going "Ahhh - love'im!"
I noticed not all seats were sold. Pushing it a bit for a non-tournament match I'd say.

Not a very good game BUT very emotional!!! Needed a box of tissues. Did wonder whether to turn up to this historical event but only the £50 tickets were left AND we would have been sitting 'in the gods'.
BTW why is it so expensive????

mrshat Sun 04-Dec-11 16:26:20

Missed it! Had all family including DGDs here for lunch and all afternoon. Lovely! Just saw highlights. Another emotional interlude!

JessM Sun 04-Dec-11 09:20:54

Yes, I was so pleased for him, on the final whistle. Not a great match but the ending made up for it. Bless him.
Still the Australians are probably the second best team in the world right now, and Wales just maybe the third... 6 nations starts before too long and this year I will be in UK and will be able to watch it all.

Annobel Sat 03-Dec-11 16:33:52

Wales didn't win, but what a magic conclusion for Shane Williams! And weren't his kids cute!

lucid Sat 03-Dec-11 16:05:26

I've been watching the Rugby Sevens on Sky....England are in the Cup Final shortly.

Annobel Sat 03-Dec-11 09:22:07

And I see it's on BBC1. That's my afternoon sorted, then. smile

JessM Sat 03-Dec-11 08:18:15

Wales - Australia at 2pm today in the Millennium Stadium.
Shane's last international match!!! I suspect he will get a bit of applause...
Wales have a few injuries, and Australia have played their way through S Hemisphere season, followed by World Cup. Should be interesting.
