News about football fans is usually unpleasant. Bolton Wanderers supporters waiting for news of Fabrice Muamba show a different side. Probably the more common one that we rarely hear about in the media.

I hope he recovers - it sounds quite serious.

I hope he shows some improvement, its tragic when this happens but you dont expect it in someone so young and and at the height of fitness. Makes you count your blessings.

Whilst it is an awful thing to happen to a young person I couldn't believe the amount of coverage it received on virtually every news channel. Thank goodness for Sky and opportunities to learn of other news - Afghanistan, Syria, Belgium to name but three very unsettling subjects.

Good signs for Fabrice Muamba - he has started speaking to his family and is showing significant progress. I have quite a few football fans in my family and all rivalry has been suspended whilst they express concerns about this young man.

I joined you three weeks ago and am wondering if there are any football fans among you.My Saturday afternoons are not the same in summer. The thing I enjoy in winter is getting comfortable with some nibbles and watching progress of all the teams each week.My special team has a big game on Sunday and I'll be on the edge of my seat!

it wouldn't be a very special Toon team would it geordie! If so that makes two of us on here.

You'll understand then.I grew up near St.James's Park and have never supported anyone else,to the despair of my late husband.

So you were close enough to hear the roars from the Gallowgate and Leazes end then smile

Ye, glass, when the wind was blowing the right way. Ah, happy memories

geordie how do you think we will do tomorrow?

Sorry to all those who love footie, but the highlight of my year is the end of the football season! I greet it with unabated glee! No more moaning, groaning and sulking on Saturdays when the team lose. Today we have a bear with a sore head, as we are now in the playoffs (whatever that is!), while S-I-L's team (same city) are going up! And they are coming to lunch tommorrow so that will be a strained occasion no doubt! They will probably be throwing roast potatoes (or insults) at each other across the table! I may just leave home....
