I am engrossed with the Australian Open, Andy Murray and Novak D are really pushing one another, although am not sure that Andy isn't tiring first. Very difficult to try and do the ironing at the same time, as well as just listened to Desert Island Discs with Ang Su Chi.smile

Rafa is champion of Roland-Garros for the 8th time. He is marvellous. I love his boyish charm and good grace. A well-rounded champion. Queens starts tomorrow...and then Wimbledon, my most favourite time of the year. Out with the choc Magnums when grin

Uplifting to see such two superb athletes play great tennis. smile

I was back in time to see the end of the match - predictable but not disappointing - Ferrer made a match of it.
I do hope Rafa plays Wimbledon and that Andy will be back in action.

I'm hoping Federer will be there, too. There are some amazing
players now. I missed the women's final. Looking forward to spending the whole of Wimbledon fortnight lazing around at home for most of the time, watching afternoon matches smile.

That was exciting! I didn't think Ferrer would stand a chance but he put up an excellent fight. As for the behaviour of the spectators - well, they'd better not try that at Wimbledon or they'll get the Granny/Mum/death stare grin

Andy Murray has just walked on court at Queen's. Should be a good match against Nicolas Mahut. Nice to see tennis back on a grass court.

I'm so annoyed that I missed the Rafa/Ferrer match..saw some of the highlights and it looked awesome. Although Rafa looked different..more man than boy now. Not sure how his dodgy knees cope with playing tennis at his level though.

Mahut played well. Andy was better. The weather [at Queens] is so unlike what we hope for. Tennis matches deserve sunshine. sunshine

It's been a nice afternoon for tennis. I watched Del Potro and Evans. A very enjoyable game, and Evans didn't give up without a fight.

annodomini Thu 13-Jun-13 17:29:15

Watched the Tsonga match when I came home. Dropped off for a few minutes. Now watching Andy.

Just watched the tennis final - well done, Andy. Then, great fun in a charity doubles with with Ivan Lendl - so good to see Andy joking around on the court. It all finished with a celeb match, with Boris Johnson, Richard Branson, Michael McIntyre, Andy, Tim Henman and others. So funny, especially when Branson tried to bribe the umpire with Virgin upgrade vouchers. grin

Ella46 Sun 16-Jun-13 20:21:14

I think they broke the mould after Boris grin he's totally bonkers and really funny!

Nice to see that they raised such a lot of money for the Royal Marsden.

Butty Sun 16-Jun-13 20:36:37

Been out most of the day. Didn't see Andy because I thought his match was rained off. Oh no! Sounds like I missed a really good afternoon of tennis. So pleased Andy did well, and the charity match sounded good fun, too. smile. Thanks for the info. when.

Love Wimbledon - but I have one gripe at the moment.....Never was a huge fan of Tim Henman and although I don't mind him nattering away during matches, I find it particularly rich that he was making comments about Andy Murray earlier in this afternoon's game. He was saying things like...'I wish he would do such and such' and generally mentioning things that he felt needed improving!

JohnWales Wed 26-Jun-13 19:22:29

they all got to lose some time ant that right

annodomini Wed 26-Jun-13 19:31:45

I'm puzzled by the number of injuries causing top players to withdraw and some of them - Sharapova for example - to blame the court. I've never seem this before in all these years of watching Wimbledon. Getting a bit concerned about Federer who is having a hard time against a very effective server. Never mind Tim Henman; let's lose Boris Becker, please.

gracesmum Wed 26-Jun-13 20:12:14

Well - no more Mr Roger Nice Guy! Did you see that ball he sent atpast Stacky at 96mph? Accident? Looking at the expression on Roger's face, I don't think so. Always thought he was such a gentleman, but I am officially withdrawing my support as of now grin

gracesmum Wed 26-Jun-13 20:18:24

The curse of gracesmum strikes again!! Yay!! Stacky has won!! That'll teach Roger to let his temper get the better of him. What a turn up! No Rafa, no Roger, no Sharapova - life is beginning to get interesting!!

merlotgran Wed 26-Jun-13 20:20:01

This is going to be a VERY good Wimbledon.

annodomini Wed 26-Jun-13 20:34:04

OMG, The girl that beat Sharapova shrieks even more loudly! Sound like a wolf baying at the moon.
Wimbledon looks like being a case of 'last (wo)man standing'!

merlotgran Wed 26-Jun-13 20:38:12

I wouldn't want to pay good money and then have to spend the afternoon listening to all that shrieking.

Ella46 Wed 26-Jun-13 20:55:11

They sounded like a couple of hyenas! I wouldn't want to sit and listen to that all through a match either!

Hilda I agree about Henman, what a cheek from someone who didn't win anything much hmm

Charleygirl Wed 26-Jun-13 21:17:52

Annodomini & Merlotgran I could not agree more. At least we can turn down the sound on our TV sets, but sitting there listening to that cacophony, for me would be too much.

Hunt Wed 26-Jun-13 23:27:24

What an amazing day's tennis. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Mamie Thu 27-Jun-13 08:11:11

No. Nor am I watching anything else as it is all that there is on the television. Why does it take over two channels and the entire Breakfast programme? Why do we have to be told about the weather from Wimbledon every day? Why are there two threads on here? Boring, boring, boring.
