Who is watching the tennis?

I was back in time to see the end of the match - predictable but not disappointing - Ferrer made a match of it.
I do hope Rafa plays Wimbledon and that Andy will be back in action.

Uplifting to see such two superb athletes play great tennis.

Crikey! First chanting protestors in the stands and now someone running on court with a red flare! Seems to be about children's rights. How do the players concentrate?

The French Open tennis final is starting to get interesting. Nadal is like an ox! Such powerful strokes. A commentator referred to an interview with the man who strings his racquets, saying that he likes to have the same tension on his strings, no matter what the weather, which makes it harder to hit in some circumstances, but has enabled his strength to put more spin on his serves than his opponents. Did anyone see it?

I'm totally wiped out. What a terrific match. Brilliant play. Well done, Rafa. It's a pity that there has to be a loser. Novak gave his all and some besides...

I couldn't tear myself away so did the ironing to justify not gardening. What a great match - just a shame it wasn't the final.

Isn't it good to have Nadal back in action? At this moment he's playing Djokovic who doesn't seem to be at his best. Rafa's fashion sense has changed a lot since he first appeared on the scene. Remember the pirate pants and sleeveless tops, showing his phenomenal biceps? He's playing in bright pink/red shorts today, not allowed at Wimbledon, but I like them!

Agreed Tegan. I have always found Federer's clothing style prissy, which is a pity as I don't usually care what great tennis player wear - but somewhere along the line I find myself noticing his clothes - which is irritating when it should be his tennis which captures me.

Know what you mean . I also find Rafa's ocd sweet but Federer's ironed shorts and gold trainers irritiating.

Who could forget Rafa's pirate pants, or the longer shorts, or indeed the pert little bum inside them? (Must go and have a litttle lie down)

Remember when Agassi first arrived on the scene? Surfer shorts, tatty t-shirt and scruffy hair; latterly, whites and neat haircut - husband and father. They do grow up! Rafa Nadal, always impeccably dressed and impeccably polite - but remember his pirate pants, below the knee length, which have shortened considerably since he first appeared?

During Murray's semi-final I actually saw him smile a few times!!! I think Lendl's influence has greatly improved his game and behaviour.
gracesmum, I agree about Federer always looking smart. I noticed that he always has creases neatly pressed into his shorts. Murray manages to look scruffy even in white.

Murray played well - but i do hate it when he starts shouting and arguing with the Umpire. He has a really 'spoilt-brat' attitude sometimes and I feel it is a really bad role model for the kids who watch him. At least MacEnroe was funny.

I agree. Wimbledon epitomises the English summer. Looking at the Melbourne stadium, though, it did cross my mind that whites would have been out of place - all muted - or at best, brash colours and no grass!

Yes, for me tennis is epitomised by whites and grass courts.

I love everything about Wimbledon. The tennis whites, the grass courts, the eccentricity of the spectators, strawberries and cream, Murray Mount, Federer looking like he's stepped off the catwalk, and Andrew Castle commentating with John McEnroe. Wimbledon fortnight is heaven!

Whew! Shame about that but Djokovic is as close to unbeatable as you can get, so well done Andy! He has grown up so much as a player and gave Djokovic a serious run for his money.
Now....(and this is not sour grapes)
How many people agree that tennis players, like cricketers, look so much better in whites? They just looked scruffy today, and Djokovic's huge silver trainers were a stylistic no no. Only Roger Federer seems able to maintain sartorial standards whatever the dress code. And as for the court officials.... the umpire today looked a mess in his dayglo orange, the ball boys surely didn't need their French Legionnaire headgear at this time of day (?) and the overall effect was dire. Wimbledon's cream flannels, blazers, blue shirts and ties look the business. The occasional panama also raises the tone.

Well done Djokovic. That was a brilliant match. Murray can hold his head up, he played well, too.

It's been riveting! Andy's foot injury seems to be causing him pain. I don't know how he leaps about like that, having seen the mess that huge blister has caused. I do hope there's going to be anther set.
