as a Leicester adoptee for 34 years- I am very excited at the prostpect of winning by a massive margin. A fabulous under-dog story. Not a football fan really, we were great Tigers (rugby) supporters- and my home game is ice-hockey of course-
but we will be cheering the Foxes all the way with our Leicester friends.

And I can't wait to see Gary presenting 'Match of the day' in his underpants, lol.
I remember the days when he used to help at his father's fruit and veg stall on Leicester market- he was so shy then. Happy days. (we lived there from 1975 to 2009). In the 70s we used to meet a lot of LCFC- as one of our neighbours was a key player.

Watching the game unfold on the tv red button I couldn't believe that Chelsea clawed back two goals after half time. The last few minutes seemed to last forever. A dear departed friend was a Leicester fan; this is for you Pete!!! I'm SO chuffed...[even though I'm a Derby County supporter]....!

Congratulations to Leicester

Great when underdogs triumph.

Well done, Leicester.

Great news grin

Not a good night for a Spurs supporter.

durhamjen Mon 02-May-16 23:04:51

And a Leicester person won the snooker.

My 25% Leicestershire blood is stirred! Although I suspect my ancestors were more likely to hunt foxes than cheer them on.

Another Leicester native here! My father, mother, sister and me were born there and on my mothers side the Leicestershire born relatives go back for many generations in the county.
My dad would have been 100 last year but died in 2002. He would have been so chuffed about the foxes winning. I so wish I could tell him.

Great news for Leicester, our local team for 27 years. Glad that our previous Local team, Chelsea could help them to the win!

Well done to the Foxes and to Mark Selby. Not a good day if you have Forest fans around!

Alima Tue 03-May-16 07:33:23

Hearty congratulations to all Leicester players and fans. A fairy tale for the modern day. So nice that a team has at last won the title and not bought it. I too am a Derby County fan but do not begrudge them one bit. Go, go The Foxes!

What a great season it's been for Leicester City. To finish top of the Premiership is a marvellous achievement. Long may they reign! ⚽⚽⚽???

hildajenniJ Tue 03-May-16 08:35:44

PS. I support Carlisle United. (We won't go there). ?

Woohoo! party wine

annodomini Tue 03-May-16 09:53:55

I've never supported a particular football club; have always preferred rugby. Now I can support both - go Tigers! go Foxes!

granjura Tue 03-May-16 11:43:16

LOL same here. DH played rugby, his brother was a big rugby player who played for some big teams, including Tigers for a while. And both GC play junior rugby now, including GD.

But seeing so much excitement and pride in our Leicester friends is priceless- so happy to join in with them smile - so funny too that here where we live no-one has evder heard of Leicester- until now. Same for our US friends and family. Even my cousin from Tasmania sent a FB message about it today - wonderful.

Mamardoit Tue 03-May-16 12:29:46

One of my sons went into Leicester last night just to be part of it all. It's a good job he had already booked this week off work.

We normally just follow the Tigers but wider family have always supported Leicester City. Just need the cricketers to step up to the mark now!

Lots of supporters from other cities have wished LCFC well.......Strangely the Nottingham Forest fans we know can't quite force a smile.

Tegan Tue 03-May-16 13:08:03

The S.O. is a Forest fan but he's been supporting Leicester all season. It's what football is all about...Leicester have given back to the sport something that went missing a long time ago. Given the sport back to the people not just the multimillionaires.

It was a big night here in Melton Mowbray last night as 100 fans blocked the road outside Jamie Vardy's house where the team were celebrating- the police came and joined in !!! Our local police are great.

granjura Tue 03-May-16 14:22:50

British coppers are indeed the best in the world. Bravo smile

granjura Tue 03-May-16 15:49:18

Best bit will be to watch Gary present Match of the Day in his underpants, lol!
Better than eating a hat!

He used to be so shy as a kid- I often bought fruit and veg from him at his dad's market stall at Leicester Market- and later he lived next door to one of DD2's best friends. One of those men who has become much sexier and better looking with age ... (grrr)

Thingmajig Tue 03-May-16 16:13:19

Absolutely brilliant, and I'm not a football fan ... husband is a staunch supporter of Liverpool but even he has been rooting for Leicester! First time, and probably last time that he's cheered a Chelsea goal.
Well done that team! party

Treebee Tue 03-May-16 16:47:42

DH is thrilled and is keeping today's newspapers as a souvenir. He also wishes he could share the triumph with his Dad who died a year ago.
Brilliant photo on the front of the Leicester Mercury today of our Gary with just a packet of Walkers crisps strategically placed!

granjura Tue 03-May-16 17:10:18

Probably too late - but ... if there is anyone in Leicestershire who can get me a copy of the Mercury - we will be over next week and would just love it- thanks.
