Do you always take water to the pool and drink copiously during your swim?

A good barrier cream should help, they are not all pore-clogging.

I only swim twice a week, but have never noticed this makes my skin any drier or anything, so can’t advise, sorry.

I swim 4-5 times weekly and have a job keeping my face (in particular) moisturised. Does anyone know of a pre swim facial protection cream that isn't pore clogging and offers some chlorine protection please?
