I thought this a good idea

@MichaelRosenYes
I propose an Olympics for the over-70s (further sections for over-80s, -90s, 100s).
To avoid heart attacks and other forms of dropping dead, the sports would be eg toe-nail cutting, best dishwasher loading, memorising shopping lists, stone-paper-scissors, TV switcher use etc.

I would add best time at going up the stairs (with bad back)

How about a Maximum Joint Replacements in One Year category? Once I get my knee done that'll be three joints this year. Deserves at least a bronze, I reckon.... winkwink

Alizarin Thu 05-Aug-21 09:47:50

Oh, ignore that! I'm only 68!

Remembering the name of the person you are talking about. First person to bring it to mind gets the through to the next stage of the competition.

Also, remembering the name of the person you are talking to …

“How long can you put off seeing GP before wife commits murder”? …

List how many drugs you’re on. The one with fewest wins Gold medal ?

God, this is depressing!

Fastest recall for what day of the week it is - no cheating by looking at date on today's newspaper.

I'm just hoping our local BMX track sees the market for letting us all have a try--it looks just awesome but I'd probably have to pad up like Michelin Man.

Brilliant thread
How about time taken at a supermarket pay kiosk to fill shopping bags in trolley whilst they are being pushed on by the cashier at amazing speed. No allowance given for being unable to pick up any item before the next is piled on it
Width of 'shelf ' onto which they have been processed must be regularised for this contest

Fastest bramble cutting with secateurs

Sitting on machine behind tractor to plant potatoes - greatest number of rows.

You would have to check the cheaters. I have memory foam slippers so I can remember why I went upstairs. grin

EEJit Thu 05-Aug-21 11:43:40

Trainee 70 year old here.

Strong competitor for gold in the being out of bed before the renal nurse arrives and the dozing on the sofa events.

Chrysalis Thu 05-Aug-21 11:44:06

DannieRae I'd win that hands down. 0r should I say hands up the sleeves?!

DanniRae Thu 05-Aug-21 11:54:16

Chrysalis - grin

Bluedaisy Thu 05-Aug-21 11:55:05

Well that’s me out as I can’t even get to my own toenails these days ?

DanniRae Thu 05-Aug-21 11:58:15

Please note there is a separate event for removing pull on bras whilst remaining dressed. I am keen to start training for that if I am selected smile

Rubbernecking out of the front room window.

Those with the most interesting gossip wins.

SusieFlo Thu 05-Aug-21 12:14:28

Mollygo Thu 05-Aug-21 12:28:11

I’m selfID ing so I can compete.
My event is “managing to load the dishwasher and switch it on before DH tuts and reorganises it!”

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 05-Aug-21 12:29:35

Could we have a farting Olympics? see who can play our National Anthem in farts?

kittylester Thu 05-Aug-21 12:30:23

My next event is putting away properly the stuff dh has put away whilst unloading the dishwasher.

b1zzle Thu 05-Aug-21 12:32:23

Changing the duvet cover?

Parsley3 Thu 05-Aug-21 12:32:24

Rules for the dozing on the sofa event.
2 faults for a snore
4 faults for a fart
Head can hang forwards but marks will be deducted for throwing it back with mouth open.
Disqualification for drooling.
