Zoejory ?

You might have beaten Kyrgios!

Who knows! Back in the day I had a mean backhand ;-)

Kyrgios is being absolutely dreadful and getting away with it. For some obscure reason the crowd is on his side. I’m so annoyed, he is a cheat and an offensive little sh.t.

WHAT…. you and I can’t have been watching the same match, either that or you must have left the room at some point. Kyrgios is quite disgusting in the way he tries to put his opponent off. I know who I was supporting tonight and it wasn’t Kyrgios. Dreadful man.

I don't think you understood Honeysuckleberries post!

Excellent tennis, shame about the behaviour. Very sad about the result - Tsitipas is usually good to watch.

Seems that playing late night matches doesn't suit anyone - even Rafael Nadal wasn't his usual self this evening.

I disagree re Agassi. Always even tempered and polite. If you look on YouTube you’ll find all sorts of stuff if you want to. Also Kyrgios doesn’t just do this at Wimbledon. I watch every tournament - I’m a self confessed tennis geek and have watched Kyrgios kicking off many, many times. As John Lloyd is saying now he might be entertaining but the intimidation and bad behaviour in this match overstepped the mark. It might entertain some but for genuine fans of tennis it ruins the game.

The clips on YouTube are not fake! Are you saying that they are?

Goodness me, I'm not sure what tennis matches you've been watching but you've missed many meltdowns

As a child my mother was a county tennis player. I went to more matches than I had hot dinners. I played for the county myself. I've been to Wimbledon many times. And Flushing Meadow when I lived in USA

Please don't infer I'm not a genuine tennis fan, you don't know me.

Even in the after match interview he is pulling the strings.... judging by the behaviour of the crowd the yobbos get in to Wimbledon these days...
I am utterly disgusted.

Do you live in Tunbridge Wells? ?

Oh F*ck

That's fine!

In fact Andre Agassi said 'f*uck you' to an umpire once. Well more than once actually. He really wasn't always charming by any means.

I'm very pleased at the outcome of this match.

He really is the most brilliant player. He might even reach the final. He's a huge draw. People like to watch him.

The ball being hit into the crowd by Tsitsipas could well have seen Nick being thrown out had he done it.

Has to be the best match of the tournament. The tennis was exceptional. And it's certainly got people talking.

merlotgran Sat 02-Jul-22 21:28:13

So which is worse…Hitting a ball at people three times which could cause serious injury or arguing and using inappropriate language which hurts nobody?

They are both violations.

It’s brilliant. They’re both playing a fast and furious (literally) game.

Fabulous to watch.

Isn't it? I am getting to the point where I might have to leave the room. Far too hot and bothered!

On a différent note I had to take a phone call and had one eye on the tennis and saw Rafa winning his match and meeting Sonego at the net and they were having a fairly heated discussion by the looks of it. What was that all about?

Grunting apparently. Rafa complaining, surprisingly.

I follow tennis all year round too and he does play up all over the world, mostly when he’s up against it.

No he really doesn't.

And anyone thinking that Agassi was always the perfect gentleman must have just seen him at Wimbledon where he was a gent. However he certainly wasn't well behaved all the time. Plenty of Youtube clips of him having histrionics, smashing his racket and swearing at umpires

It is so annoying isn’t it. The umpire and referees are so weak they make me ashamed to be British. This is blatant cheating and he will keep doing it because no one is calling him on it. I hope he gets to play Djokovic because I’m sure he wouldn’t put up with it like tsitsipas has done.
In fact I’m so annoyed by him I’m watching an ancient James Bond instead.

merlotgran Sat 02-Jul-22 20:52:26

Why is Kyrgios getting all the flak?

Tsitsipas was making McEnroe look like an angel.
