I’m another one flicking back and forth. Kyrgios playing a brilliant game so far.

Oh no!

Rafa is not on form, maybe has foot problems?

Smileless2012 Wed 06-Jul-22 16:48:10

Oh thank goodness Rafa got the second set. I'll take the dogs out before things get tense again.

tickingbird Wed 06-Jul-22 17:07:40

Rafa has a stomach strain on top of the foot. He can’t serve or move properly. His dad was gesturing as if to say “come off, leave it” but still he soldiers on. I don’t know how he can win but if he does he’ll have to get through Kyrgios (probably) then Djokovic (likely). I so want him to win.

Well played Kyrgios

TillyTrotter Wed 06-Jul-22 17:51:49

Rafa was wearing a pain relief patch on his stomach in the previous match.
I hope he can still power through and win this match. ?

Jaxjacky Wed 06-Jul-22 18:44:50

Me too Tilly

Callistemon21 Wed 06-Jul-22 18:58:40

Well, this is tense!

Grandmadinosaur Wed 06-Jul-22 19:02:02

You can say that again ?

fairfraise Wed 06-Jul-22 19:15:20

Fritz is so laid back at the changeovers.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 06-Jul-22 19:25:02

If they show David Beckham one more time I’ll scream.

TillyTrotter Wed 06-Jul-22 19:30:36

What a match … !!
Magnificent Rafa!
I am so pleased Rafa Nadal closed it out on the tie break. ? ?
Taylor Fritz can take a bow - he was amazing. ?

rafichagran Wed 06-Jul-22 19:30:43

I an not in the country, but we are by the television waiting on match point. So exciting.

merlotgran Wed 06-Jul-22 19:31:06

Phew!

Grandmadinosaur Wed 06-Jul-22 19:32:12

What a man. Just amazing.

tickingbird Wed 06-Jul-22 19:34:15

He’s unbelievable but how can he take on Kyrgios now? He’s triumphed but he definitely wasn’t 100%.

Smileless2012 Wed 06-Jul-22 19:34:19

Thank goodness.

Grannybags Wed 06-Jul-22 19:40:19

Hooray Rafa! Only trouble is we’ve got to go through it all again on Friday…!

Sparklefizz Wed 06-Jul-22 19:43:20

I don't know about Rafa having a struggle to go through it on Friday ... not sure if I can!!! Phew!

He's amazing. What grit and determination. No whining and complaining like Kyrgios. I hope he hasn't done himself a permanent injury.

Millie22 Wed 06-Jul-22 19:51:01

How did he do that .... really

He must have been in pain. Taylor Fritz was so good too.

Sweetpeasue Wed 06-Jul-22 19:56:19

It was brilliant. All credit to Taylor Fritz too. So glad Nadal has got through though. Yes, hope he's OK. He'll need to be for his next, for sure.

MayBee70 Wed 06-Jul-22 20:05:52

He did refer to the fact that he might not get to his next game. I only saw the last few minutes.

Callistemon21 Wed 06-Jul-22 20:15:08

Yes, Taylor Fritz was brilliant too and, at 24?, he'll be back.

Jaxjacky Wed 06-Jul-22 20:15:34

True grit and determination ???

lixy Wed 06-Jul-22 21:00:06

Terrific match; both players deserved a standing ovation. Really hope Nadal can recover in time to give Kyrgios a lesson.
