Please join us in conversation if you enjoy Wimbledon - it is just 2 weeks of the years and greatly enjoyed by it’s fans.

PoppyFlower I’m a tennis addict and watch all year, except for December when no tennis is played. I have the TennisTV app about £90 odd a year and today will be watching tennis in Sweden and the US. Eurosport tend to have the bigger tournaments. If you download the free ATP you can follow the details of all the matches/scores etc around the world.

Me too! ? When is the next major tennis tournament, does anyone know? ???

humptydumpty Mon 11-Jul-22 15:15:36

Ah, first week post-Wimbledon and I'm getting my annual withdrawal pains!

fairfraise Mon 11-Jul-22 15:12:43

No I didn't see pictures of that!

Doubt it. She's a young lawyer in her 20s!

I read that she was 32 and had only had 2 drinks. She blamed the heat!

Did you see that Mrs Novak wore the same pink dress to the Champions Ball?

I wonder if the woman in the dress who'd had "700 drinks" is on Gransnet??

Thank you Maw ✅✅✅✅

Yes Sparklefizz Villanelle’s double

I’m surprised Wimbledon weren’t as strict on the unprofessional behaviour from Kyrios or the fact he put a red hat on to get his trophy, which is not in the dress code , but it seems it gets publicity and draws in the viewers. Don’t mind Novak getting the cheers and doing a bit of a dance or whatever - he has just won a Grand Slam….

Was a great match and nice to see that the two of them are good mates. I didn’t care about what people were wearing, just envious of the nice hot weather .

Smileless2012 Sun 10-Jul-22 23:10:53

So glad I didn't see that Sparklefizz the more that man tries to ingratiate himself, the more I dislike him.

You would think the dress code for the RoyalBox might be different for under 10 year olds.

Completely agree, except I would make it under 12s.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 10-Jul-22 22:00:48

I like the all white dress code especially when compared to some of the garish attire worn in other tournaments.
It’s tradition and I like that. What does need changing is the method of admittance to the Championships ie ballot, on the day queueing, Browsing other major competitions such as Roland Garros you can go online to purchase tickets. Much simpler.

Mollygo Sun 10-Jul-22 21:12:13

Women’s singles would open the way for the gender argument.
In terms of what they wear, I must have missed the pink bra event, was it really so obvious? I don’t mind it being all white dress code. It’s only like an obligatory uniform for other roles. If you take the job, you accept the rules.

NotTooOld Sun 10-Jul-22 19:43:09

Agree, vegansrock. PG would have been much better off in shorts and a t-shirt. I do remember on a previous occasion we were told he wanted to wear the same clothes as his dad, though, so maybe it was his choice.

Wimbledon does need updating. Gentlemen's singles? Ladies' singles? What's wrong with women and men? And the all-white dress code? Is that really necessary? Sending women off to change out of a pink bra? Ridiculous.

vegansrock Sun 10-Jul-22 18:23:06

I think there’s more criticism for making the dress code be applied inappropriately for small children. They are a bunch of stuffed shirts.

PoppyFlower Sun 10-Jul-22 18:20:48

I'll miss Sue Barker. I wonder who'll take her place? I think Clare Balding will step up.

Unless they know that people will be criticising them for not following the dress code.

Pittcity Sun 10-Jul-22 18:13:32

That tribute to Sue Barker just bought a tear to my eye.

I don't like Novak's stupid gestures at the end of a match - lying on the grass doing that flying motion thing, eating a bit of the grass, trying to get even more cheers out of the crowd... it all seems so fake and OTT. I loathe it.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Jul-22 17:29:37

W O W !!! What a match! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I agree NanKate - ND's wife's awful dress. She looked like Villanelle in Killing Eve.

Kate looked terrific. Wish I had her fabulous hair!

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Jul-22 17:27:11

Why is Prince Georg in suit and tie ? A polo shirt and shorts would be much more appropriate.

Because that's the dress code for the Royal Box.

nadateturbe Sun 10-Jul-22 17:22:03

Two great players!

fairfraise Sun 10-Jul-22 17:16:33

Brilliant tennis.
