Forget Wimbledon! Mark Cavendish has made history today, at the age of 39, by beating Eddie Merckx’s 34 stage wins in the Tour de France.
So pleased for him - he seems such a lovely man. He deserves to be Sports Personality of this year.
Cycling is the ultimate test of strength, stamina, endurance and sheer bravery. Those descents in the Alps are terrifying!
An added bonus has been a geology lesson explaining the formation of mountain ranges. Brilliant! 👍
