Just that really. All things related to the 16 day event.

Oh dear. Just a bit sad and the weather doesn't help.

Joseann

The damage being done to that posh piano. 🌧

Yes!
😥

Callistemon213 Fri 26-Jul-24 20:47:12

aggie

I’ve turned it off'j

We've turned over to a repeat of Doc Martin.

I couldn't bear to see that beautiful piano getting soaked in the rain! What were they thinking? You can plan for everything but not the weather.

It’s a bit underwhelming isn’t it?

In case you're missing 'Pandemonium' from the opening of London 2012, heres how to do it properly

London 2012 set the bar extremely high- the Queen, James Bond, Mr Bean.
Need I say more?

Memorable. For all the wrong reasons.

Rishi Sunak will be sitting in on a verandah somewhere sipping something chilled and thinking “Yay!”

Urmstongran Fri 26-Jul-24 20:42:09

🤣

The only exciting bit was wondering how on earth Lady GaGa was going to negotiate dancing on those steps in those heels. After that I decided to go and have a bath.

Jaxjacky Fri 26-Jul-24 20:39:25

I have sympathy for the organisers, the weather is dreadful, sadly I don’t think the opening ceremony has the impact envisioned, I’m being polite 🙂

Urmstongran Fri 26-Jul-24 20:39:11

I miss Terry Wogan and his humour. He would have made this bearable. BBC ‘comments’ are so favourable. I wonder what they are watching?

teabagwoman Fri 26-Jul-24 20:36:47

I’m not a sports fan but this time I’ve decided to embrace the Olympics. The opening ceremony is ambitious and different but I’m not sure it really works. I’ve enjoyed parts of it but definitely not the can can.

Please end. Please end.
Pauvre France.

Well it’s a cross between a Windermere cruise, Camberwick Green with statues popping up from plinths, to a follow on from Paris pride, very disjointed and fragmented.

ginny Fri 26-Jul-24 20:24:32

Underwhelming definitely.

Urmstongran Fri 26-Jul-24 20:21:36

When does the real opening ceremony start. This cannot be it. It is embarrassing. Those who actually fought for a ticket are now soaked and presumably can’t see anything other than a few Dunkirk style boats going down a grey river.

NotAGran55 Fri 26-Jul-24 20:17:58

The best bits are the banners popping up showing the times of the sports tomorrow.

Gardeners world too, I’m sure the atmosphere live was good but I’m feeling underwhelmed.

merlotgran Fri 26-Jul-24 20:04:01

It’s so boring I've switched over to Gardener’s World.

The best bits for me are the scenes done for tv, in the Louvre, tho I like the giant heads in the river, and for the spectators there the flames and the Carmen music. The Lady Ga Ga feathery fiasco was cringeworthy. Now I’m watching some poor bloke play a piano in the pouring rain.

The arrangement and choreography of that song were dire.
It looked clunky and under rehearsed too.
But on the bright side, perhaps not a lot of people watched it?

🤣🤣

I think LSD has been slipped into the rain drops ☔️

Claretjan Fri 26-Jul-24 19:59:44

The Minions? I've had a couple of glasses of wine but am I missing something? I do like the Minions though.
