No ice skating that's Winter Olympics....this is 'Summer' ?🤣Olympics

I cheer for and applaud all the medalists. It seems unfair that the brilliant cyclists and gymnasts can win several medals while some athletes can only win one (per games). Also some sports have only a few participants and other sports have participants from almost every country.
Well done GB. Keep it up.

And now I’ve just seen another from the women rowers!

I don’t know about them, but I think I need a lie down. smile

Did I really see AlexYee win the triathlon? Or was I hallucinating? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a comeback like that! shock

Well done our competitors, medals in shooting and swimming tonight and Andy Murray and Dan Evans through to next round and super congratulations to Daniel Wiffin in the swimming for Northern Ireland and Simone Biles and her teammates for USA she was stunning in the gymnastics.

Last weeks Radio Times had a comprehensive list of days and times of all sports. But don’t bother to try to connect it with that which the BBC are showing. DH says it’s a bit like Russian roulette. Hit and miss. Olympics extra ,on the red button is a little better

Is it me being stupid but I can't find anywhere that shows an accurate schedule of what is being televised. Looking on the BBC website now, women's basketball is meant to be on but it's hockey! Spoiling all my enjoyment because I can't find the sports I want to watch.

I wish they’d stop interviewing people when they’ve just lost and are heartbroken.

I think it’s cruel and unnecessary, MayBee. Surely they could let them have a bit of a breathing space to compose themselves.

I think the rowing team commentary duo of Pinsent and Grainger are worthy of a mention too.

ixion re WA hairstyles. It is still very much in fashion for young women to have long hair. For gymnastics this needs to be firmly and securely tied back. Lots of hair spray is used to ensure that not a single hair can come loose whilst they are performing. When they go out for a team event it is very normal (at all levels of competition), for them to decide on a single style and ALL team members have it.

All girls and young women have long hair now, not just football players or athletes or any other sport. It seems to be the only hairstyle in town.Fringes are never seen either anymore, just the scraped back look.Weird really.

Still don't get it, sorry!
A young girl who is a brilliant gymnast, an asset to her team, won't be competing because long hair, scraped and sprayed back, is the regulation team look.🤷‍♀️
Close cropped? Won't flop over the eyes, will not affect the visual field, will not detract from the girl's performance appearance (think high cut-away leotards to enhance leg movements).
Will she have to wait til her hair grows long??

Anyway, enough banging on!
Happy to move on.😄

I'm loving the swimming too and Mark and Rebecca give an informed and interesting view of everything.

Love her hair too 😂

Am I alone in thinking that Rebecca Adlington is one of the stars of the BBC coverage?

I agree, she’s so normal and straightforward, she has the best things to say about every swimmer. I like Mark Foster too. I’m enjoying the swimming.

Adam Peaty has Covid (he tested positive this morning). He did mention in passing to an interviewer last night that he had a sore throat. What a shame it’ll be if he can’t take part in the relays.

True Callistemon213 no flowing locks then😄
There used to be so many styles tho, curly, long, short fringes, no fringes. Now most younger women and girls are lookalikes.
No fringes, heavy eyebrows and a scowl is the favoured look round here.😲

Joseann Mon 29-Jul-24 17:08:31

Nice to see rising young GB stars winning medals.

We had to tie our hair up or plait it at school, no loose hair allowed in those days.

The French I think Callistemon213 as they pipped the Frenchman at the post.In spite of stopping for a puncture, amazing.

Apologies Tom’s surname is Pidcock

He had a puncture during the race and still managed to win.

Unfortunately there were a fair few boos as he crossed the winning line 😡

Who from?

Most unsportsmanlike!!
Not in the spirit of the Olympic Games at all. 😡

Tom Pidock 🥇 in mountain biking.

He'd had Covid not long ago too!

Why do they interview them when they're breathless and emotional just after completing and winning an arduous race?
The interviewer didn't just say "Congratulations", she went on and on
