Tuchel didn’t leave Chelsea because there were issues between him and the players, he left because when the club changed hands the new management made decisions to let players he wanted to keep go, and interfered with new signings, so he was effectively not allowed to manage. He was a very successful manager from the results perspective. Both my children are avid Chelsea supporters so I’ve got this on good authority.

Tuchel seems to fall out with everybody Himself says. Dortmund. Chelsea. He’s not impressed by the news.

Southgate had a team of talented players and used them in the wrong way. Hopefully the new man will get more out of his team.

Tuchel favours an attacking style of play so a bit different to Southgate who was more defensive.
Like other posters I would have preferred an English manager but Eddie Howe has unfinished business at Newcastle.
Having watched England lift the World Cup in 1966, I live in hopes of seeing that again and feel more hopeful of it happening under Tuchel.

The teams are multi-national too so what's the problem

Members of the England team generally has to be born in England, have parents or grandparents born here or have residency and naturalisation.

It matters not if the England manager is English or not - eg Sven Goran Eriksson RIP.

However, is he the right choice for the job with his temper and belittling of players? He's been sacked more than once.

I think you misunderstood me, keepingquiet or I didn't explain properly. No silly rivalry inference intended.
This thread is under the heading Sport, and I meant Tuchel's football style, (German), as in managing his players on the pitch.
For example, my young DGS1 was selected by a Premier League club, but has since been "foothunted" by an International club, (Italian). The two styles of training and playing are very different, and the Italian way of team management is interesting in comparison.

The problem is with the team, not the manager.

I delighted, think it’s going to be a wonderful phase for England. The way the u21 boys are going it should last a while too. Yes I am a footie fan!

I do feel the England manager should be English like the players.

He did a very good job at Chelsea, and I think he will be a better choice than the last few England managers. Football management is an international role, he already know the players, and the fact that he’s not English won’t diminish his wish to see the team he is managing win.

I’d like to have seen Eddie Howe take the job, but contractual issues make that tricky, maybe next time.
