This is probably the only 2 weeks where I avidly watch curling! I'm looking forward to watching our skating duo who have a good chance of a medal with their British pop music inspired routines. They have so much ability and personality so good luck to them.

Anyone watching the Curling?
I wonder what Grandma Janet is knitting?

Women’s Figure Skating - just wow!

I AM enjoying the men’s Big Air (I think that’s what it is called) this evening.
Mid-air acrobatics on skis in what looks like a blizzard and then not infrequently splatting in the snow on landing. Nobody hurt - what’s not to like?

Although I was only half watching it I got quite emotional when the Japanese pair won gold in the skating. I saw them the other night when they made a mistake but for some reason they were the skaters that really grabbed me emotionally.

Huw Nightingale and Charlotte Bankes were thrilling to watch. The speed and the angles that seem to defy gravity are so exciting.
Poor Kirsty Muir getting 4th again. Her jumps were incredible but that fall right at the end was heartbreaking.
Really enjoying these Olympics.

The skating. Oh my life how do they do some of that! It’s terrifying.

Love the figure skating but getting really annoyed with the BBC as they keep changing the timings of the live broadcasts . It’s been really difficult chasing it across BBC1 and 2 and the red button all week. Once it was supposed to be on at nine but it started early so we missed half .

Me too! I kept trying on iPlayer but we missed all the earlier competitors.
I found the same with the summer Olympics could never find the events as advertised on iPlayer

Yes love it... Fantastic skills and bravery at times, really enjoy the coverage but at times too many repeats. But understand why it's done.
Makes me wish I could Ski again but after having both Hips and left Knee replaced, and wrecking my ACL (Skiing) on my Right knee, think I won't get insured!! Oh well there is always Apre Ski.. And the coverage on the TV.

Virtual skiing Visgirl?

The snowboarding has been incredible as has the huge respect and care shown by competitors for other competitors regardless of nationality. It's a young person's sport and they are all living on the edge of triumph or disaster, what a tough lot they are! I've loved the curling too, precision and strategy. I didn't watch the men's free skating but I've been watching vids of Ilia Malinin for months now, I feel rather sad that he's had such a difficult time at the Olympics, the pressure must have been huge but at least he has a team gold.

The ski - ing and the snowboarding have been breathtaking.
I will declare an interest - as well as cheering for Britain, I'm excited for Norway, as I have Norwegian GC.

Yes I am watching and I actually prefer it to the summer Olympics.

The men’s skating was quite exciting!
I am not sure it was on BBC, I paid 3.99 to watch on Discovery.
That way I have more choice.

Spoiler alert if anyone hasn't caught up. Can't believe we have won a gold for going down a dangerous icy course on a tin tray. The man is either one of the bravest or mad haven't decided yet. Amazing to watch. Absolutely hooked. Can't remember what it was called but when they had to ski down that slope with those boobly bits, such fun. I've just watched the men's skating. I keep on thinking I will just watch things for 15 minutes and then get hooked on another sport.. Husband loves the curling.Much prefer it to the summer Olympics. The competitors seem much kinder to each other.

Really liking Lizzie Yarnold in the studio.

Gingster,I think uou mean Pairs or is it Ice Dance..?

I find the whole thing pretty boring apart from when GB curling . With regard to that the BBC coverage is terrible. Watching it on iplayer and in the middle of a match they switch to the studio for a bit of chat and then tell you theyre now going to the luge or an ice hockey match. But never fear the curling you were watching continues on the iplayer extra. So you switch to that and whats on it? ANYTHING but curling!!! Its so frustrating!!!
The BBC do exactly the same thing for Wimbledon too which I love.

Yes, I've visited Mount Cook in New Zealand, but my cousin from Auckland, who accompanied us there, was in shorts all the time! I don't think living there their legs feel the cold!

^There are ski resorts in Australia!^
I've now got visions of them skiing down the slopes in shorts and sunhats! 😎 ⛷️ 🩳 🩴

Not in Perisher!

Nor in Tasmania in winter.

My SiL went skiing on a school trip when he was young.

Have dipped in and out of it this year and surprised I enjoyed it so much. Ice hockey brilliant (and dangerous) so fast, can't see how they ever know if they've scored or not. The mixed relay races are just chaos with the team members who aren't racing having to race round in the centre space ready to cut in. The ice dancing has surprised me the most, it must be a long time since I watched any because I don't remember all the lifts and throws involved - more like 'Strictly'.
