A thread for those who are watching it.

Not sure how interested in it I will be.
Like I said on the not watching thread, it may depend how far some Countires I am interested in, get to, in the competition.

I’m not Scottish but the bagpipes brought a lump to my throat and the duck waddling along wearing a saltire made me laugh. 🤣🤣

Sarnia are you aware that Emma Hayes is British and umm had a fair bit of success as Chelsea women's manager? That's why the USA women's team 'poached' her away to coach their national team.

I confess that I was not aware of her achievements. However, my 2 sons, 1 of my daughters and a grandson, all Chelsea supporters have let me know in no uncertain terms. I am suitably chastened. blush

You're forgiven! I too am a lifelong Chelsea supporter unlike my husband, sons and grandsons who support a different London club 🙄

We have a mix of Chelsea, Southampton, Norwich, Leeds, Manchester United & City. Great fun when they play each other. grin

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see any of the World Cup, only the Scottish fans celebrating on catchup 😊

MT62 It was because you said there was zilch atmosphere where you lived. I was just curious as to where that might be.

The machine that is Messi!

I was hoping Austria would win but Messi is impressive to say the least.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 22-Jun-26 21:10:40

That was a good match, Messi is a legend but again the goalkeepers are doing so well. My H , who was a football aficionado would have been glued to the television and I miss him at these times more than usual.

MollyNew Mon 22-Jun-26 22:16:10

Messi has the Midas touch this week.

I love watching footie... that's having 2 sons. Not keen on the double commentary in the background though. All different broadcasting outlets causing that. Also EDF give free electricity when Scotland or England play. I'm not getting up in the middle of the night to put washing on though🤣

I’m really loving the Cape Verde story at this World Cup, there’s nothing better than David challenging Goliath.

Galaxy Tue 23-Jun-26 08:01:36

It is more important than that I have them in the world cup sweepstake I am in smile

Casdon Tue 23-Jun-26 08:08:29

I hope there is a prize for the giant killers in your sweepstake Galaxy, you would have a great chance!

Good Luck England. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

That’s a very fancy stadium and it’s packed!! I wouldn’t want to be up at the top though. 😮😫

Thomas is having a go in the hydration break.
He apparently doesn’t agree as it breaks the flow of the game but he likes the chance to gee up his players.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Jun-26 21:52:07

I think a half time bollocking, sorry, team talk, may be looming!

Usedtobeblonde Tue 23-Jun-26 21:56:27

And it will be deserved.
They looked so positive to start but Ghana are showing their class and are marking so well.

grumppa Tue 23-Jun-26 22:31:26

Is this the most boring World Cup match ever?

merlotgran Tue 23-Jun-26 22:39:15

I thought that after ten minutes.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 23-Jun-26 23:03:44

They just couldn’t do it.
Ghana were on form.
We really weren’t.

Bellanonna Tue 23-Jun-26 23:08:10

Yep. Found it boring too. And Ghana played really well.
