A thread for those who are watching it.

Not sure how interested in it I will be.
Like I said on the not watching thread, it may depend how far some Countires I am interested in, get to, in the competition.

I think a lot of teams are finding these African teams difficult to play and beat. I thought Germany were going to be defeated. But they managed to sort out what to do. There’s no way that we’ll ever win a World Cup playing like we did last night. Back to being boring again.

Casdon Wed 24-Jun-26 06:30:27

It was a bit dull, so different to their first game, where England were bouncing.

Millie22 Wed 24-Jun-26 07:53:23

Well it was great to see a new revitalised England team but last night was back to the same boring football.

Jaxjacky Wed 24-Jun-26 08:42:47

I stayed up past my bedtime for that!

You would have been better off having a nap then watching Panama v Croatia. It was more exciting (in my opinion).

It just wasn't to be for Scotland. There is a very slim chance that they may go into the knockout stages after the remaining matches have been played throughout the other groups. If only they could have found the form they showed when winning their qualifier for this World Cup. Their fans will live long in the memory of the Americans. If this is to be the last we see of Scotland in this competition, I will remember the duck waddling along with his saltire flapping in the breeze and a group of Scots doing their best to play a tango on their bagpipes for the Brazilian fans.

Well done Cape Verde finishing second in their group! Such an achievement from a population of only half a million people.

Casdon Sat 27-Jun-26 11:59:41

That is amazing isn’t it Rosie51, I’m so pleased for them, I hope they continue for longer, the unpredictable is always the best in a World Cup.

It certainly is. Well done them.

I like the unpredictability of it all as well.

Come on England tonight, 10pm

They are going to win the whole thing, I have complete faith, not only because I would win the sweepstake.

fancythat Sat 27-Jun-26 16:50:50

I cant say I have as much faith as that, personally!

FRANCE are very strong. After seeing them beat Norway 4 - 1 last night, I'm thinking they might win again.
Well, I hope so, my suitcase is full of France football kit and merchandise for DGS.

A lot of changes to the England team playing tonight.

Well done Jude on both scoring and assisting,

Has anyone else found it so disconcerting to watch England playing in red and the opposition playing in our usual strip of white. However they are playing better and I am delighted.

Yes we both did! Good result in the end!

Fireworks and an outdoor party just calming down. I could hear the goals. ☺️

Mollygo Sun 28-Jun-26 00:40:42

Better play tonight! Well done England.

Poor old Scotland. Pack your bagpipes, I suppose.

The manager has already thrown in the towel (even though he's not the one on the pitch being stupendously overpaid to get the ball in the net.)

Casdon Sun 28-Jun-26 07:29:33

Well done England, it’s good to finish at the top of the group stage. Don’t be too hard on Scotland, remember it’s a small country, and they did well to qualify in the first place, football is very competitive in Europe. .

Jaxjacky Sun 28-Jun-26 07:36:24

We won, but it wasn’t convincing.

Thank god Clarke has gone - yes, at the end of the day the players on the pitch have to get results, but he also has to bear a huge amount of responsibility for the poor overall performance with his player selection and set-up. He also showed a complete lack of grace and professionalism in his post-match interviews. The SFA should never have renewed his contract - they need a complete overhaul from the top down.

I would have to agree with you. I have a Scottish SIL who went up to Scotland to watch their WC qualifying game against Denmark. Sadly, they have been unable to replicate anywhere near that performance on the pitch. Scotland did have a tough group. It was the only group out of 12 that had 2 of the top 10 teams in the world in it with Brazil and Morocco. I was disappointed that Ross Stewart who played for my club, Southampton, didn't get more playing time. He had a good end to the season for the Saints . Shame he never got much of a chance to show his talent as a striker.
