Any tennis fans? Especially Wimbledon?

Sad to see our female number one not competing due to injury! Emma R did so well at Queens.

Still, this week we do have a number of Brits and a good few wildcards.

Will you be watching and who are you supporting?

I’ll def be watching all our girls and boys and the Williams Sisters who are playing (as wild cards) in the doubles.

Might have to turn off the volume if there is too much “grunting” on court, drives me nuts!

grin
My mum always noticed those kinds of things.
One player used to pull his shorts out of from between his cheeks before every serve.

Once she pointed it out, i found myself watching out for it too.
Bum, hand wipe, hand wipe...

I love the way Zverev shows us his tummy before every serve ... awfully decent of him and all entirely free! smile

Sinner for me but yes, both are well matched. Good match so far 🎾🎾🎾

I'm watching at the moment - the quality of play is stupendous! I'm routing for Zverev, simply because he is not favourite to win!
I too, like Claire Balding, as someone commented, she does her research very thoroughly.

I can hardly watch this. What a nerve wracking time. 1 set all. Wonderful quality hitting from Sinner now.

Bukkie Sun 12-Jul-26 18:16:04

I like Claire Balding, she is a great presenter. I miss Boris Becker commentating, he was great.

Zverev is a great example for any young person diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He has to monitor his blood sugar during matches and sometimes take insulin. Despite that, he's playing amazing tennis. He and Sinner are well matched.

Bellasnana Sun 12-Jul-26 18:01:56

I’m not sure why Claire gets so much stick as she seems to do a good job.

I have had to mute the tv though, the commentators are so negative about Sinner it’s making me nervous.😨

I rather like Clare Balding at Wimbledon...but then I wasn't offended by John Mac's shirt either grin

I’m a fan of Claire as well, she certainly does do her homework regarding broadcasts.
I like listening to her Ramblings programme on R 4.
Meanwhile back on centre court Zverev is doing very well.

I'm watching the mens final at the moment.
The Brits have done well this year especially Arthur.
The only thing that's spoilt it for me is Clare Balding. She's into everything.. Why can't she just stick to horses

She lost her contract with the BBC many years ago and had to go freelance. She then had thyroid cancer and had trouble with her hearing, too. She switched to rugby, something that I have no knowledge of, but my partner says people in the rugby world were impressed by the depth of her knowledge. And it’s the same with everything she turns her hand to. A true professional imo. And when she was still working for the BBC many years ago someone that you could go up and chat to like a long lost friend. Her books are lovely, too, as are her walking podcasts. It took a lot of courage for her to come out when she did. I admire her immensely.

I must see if there is a way of watching junior final on catchup .... sounds interesting.

Not happy that we’ve got Agassi mumbling away in the commentary box again.😩

I agree!

Did anyone catch the closing minutes of the Boys Singles Finals?
Runner up was Cruz Hewitt, son of Lleyton.

(Winner was 16 years old in May😳).

Obviously John McEnroe couldn't find a smart shirt to wear today 👔

What a ladies’ final! I think it was both the strengths and the faults of both that made it such an entertaining match to watch. Very emotional interviews at the end.

J52 Sat 11-Jul-26 19:37:27

Ooh Foxie48 you sound like you have some coaching experience.

Wow! ... a real match! They were both excellent.

TBH I didn't think it was a great match, for the first set and most of the second set we saw Muchova play badly and then we watched her raise her game as Noskova played badly. When I say "badly" I mean below ability to play well. Thank goodness, both picked up and we got some periods of them both playing well and I'm pleased for Muchova that her game improved. It is a hugely mental sport and tbh both players in this match lost their self belief and I hate seeing players starting to crumble, I much prefer to see two players playing the best tennis they can. that is always really enjoyable even at a humble club level.

J52 Sat 11-Jul-26 19:28:23

Fantastic match! I’ve never watched anything like it! 6 opportunities to take the win. A whole hour from the first to the last. I’m exhausted, I’m sure they were.
So lovely that in their friendship they showed such respect for each other. So emotional, I had a tear in my eyes.
