Any tennis fans? Especially Wimbledon?

Sad to see our female number one not competing due to injury! Emma R did so well at Queens.

Still, this week we do have a number of Brits and a good few wildcards.

Will you be watching and who are you supporting?

I’ll def be watching all our girls and boys and the Williams Sisters who are playing (as wild cards) in the doubles.

Might have to turn off the volume if there is too much “grunting” on court, drives me nuts!

….anyone not in tears at the moment? What a match. No one deserved to lose…

Struggling with the commentary on this. Andre Agassi is very quietly spoken.

His commentary was very informative but so laid back it made me want to nod off.

Gin I hate the way he says Joke o vitch. Apart from that I love his comments sometimes.

Plevey08. It is, I suppose, normal that we all have different likes and dislikes. I cannot stand McInroe’s voice, it is so harsh and he never shuts up. I much prefer Henman’s low key commentary. I found Jamie Murray very informative and not intrusive. John’s voice just intrudes on my concentration

I think they have a really long season and the game is just so much faster with longer rallies. It is punishing. Taller players have an advantage in terms of performance but a disadvantage in terms of injury and players are tending to be taller.

They are mind-bogglingly fit. But alongside this they are suffering so many more injuries that are not due to a fall but to overuse of body parts and what is essentially repetitive strain injury on a big scale. Bit worrying.

I am astounded by the level of fitness these players have. This heat doesn't seem to slow the game or affect the players whereas most of us are lethargic.

I thought that, with so many well known players retiring or not able to play this years Wimbledon would be dull but I’ve been enjoying it immensely.

Sorry my first comment was regarding. Arthur Fery.

TillyTrotter Fri 10-Jul-26 19:15:44

Sorry it was the end of a magical road the past 2 weeks. So much for him to be proud of.

I watched GB’s 🇬🇧 Alfie Hewett in the Men’s Wheelchair Singles this afternoon and he stormed to victory (and the Final). 👏

Luckygirl3 Fri 10-Jul-26 19:07:37

The final will be one to watch!

I loved that the crowd were supporting Djokovic and he seemed to be enjoying the match. He's been a great player but was in the mix with Federer and Nadal, who were usually more popular so I'm pleased to see him being supported by the Wimbledon crowd. Sinner outclassed him. The Sinner/Zverev match should be excellent.

Bellasnana Fri 10-Jul-26 18:46:05

Well, Sinner smashed it!🙌🏻
Looks like Novak will have to put his ‘25’ jacket back in moth balls.😅

Luckygirl3 Fri 10-Jul-26 17:29:18

Come on Agassi! ... speak up! ... you are getting paid to talk!! smile

Jaxjacky Fri 10-Jul-26 17:20:56

I too enjoyed the Fery match, he’s done well and is young.

I haven’t watched a Djokovic match for years, can’t stand his arrogance and gamemanship. Will definitely be behind Sinner. Fery too has a bit of arrogance about him and I do like Cobolli but I should really support the Brit ….

I absolutely take back my comment about Fery, no sign of arrogance at all, quite the reverse. I enjoyed the match and really look forward to watching his career develop.

Luckygirl3 Fri 10-Jul-26 17:02:26

Same here Cossy.
The difference in height was very marked when they got together at the end!

Cossy Fri 10-Jul-26 16:50:24

Well done Arthur for getting this far, for leaping up the rankings and I’ll look forward to following your matches in the future!

👏👏👏🎾🎾🎾

Bellasnana Fri 10-Jul-26 16:22:58

Well, here we go again! Not sure my nerves can stand it! 😅

Luckygirl3 Fri 10-Jul-26 16:17:20

Fery seemed to have lost a bit of his sparkle - that determination to run for every shot. And who can blame him in this heat? - I can just about get to the kitchen!

He has done a great job and it all bodes well for his future. Oh - and he has pocketed nearly a million!

I’m not impressed with the umpire.

What happened at the start of the match ( I was only half watching). I get no enjoyment from watching players with big serves. Hated the Sampras years. Having said that, for Arthur’s sake I hope he goes on to be champion as it’s better to know you’ve been beaten by someone on an unstoppable roll. He should be so proud of what he has achieved.

wendyann23 Fri 10-Jul-26 16:15:30

Yes, well done for getting so far. Arthur exceeded all our expectations. Now looking forward to the next semi final later this afternoon. Wimbledon has been a godsend as too hot to do much in this heatwave.

foxie48 Fri 10-Jul-26 16:14:11

It would have been a wonderful fairytale if Arthur had won, Zverev is 9 inches taller than Arthur and uses every inch to his advantage. He was a very worthy winner and I really warmed to him because he was generous and funny in his post match interview. It'll be interesting to see who wins the next match, Sinner is 6'3" and Djokovic is 6'2" and tbh I think both move a bit better than Zverev. I'm rushing around in the kitchen to pre prepare supper so I can watch the match.

Grannybags Fri 10-Jul-26 16:01:31

Well done for getting so far in the tournament Arthur 👏👏
