A recent article suggested that a Brazilian or Hollywood is the norm. Is this true for older ladies? Has this been discussed before?

OK Riverwalk I get where you're coming from but as far as I'm concerned there's a time and a place and this ain't it.

Galen Wed 03-Jul-13 18:52:54

Quite!

annodomini Wed 03-Jul-13 18:46:25

Ah, Galen, presumably that's why Ruskin was reputed to have been so horrified when he discovered his wife's body hair. He probably thought that the appearance of the women in the Old Masters' paintings was natural.

Look at old classical paintings of Venus etc. it's not that new a fashion and I believe they 'plucked'! [ouch]

Maybe it's because I'm a nurse that I don't have a problem with discussing Lady Gardens! In the context which the OP put forward, that is.

First, I don't think it's a euphemism, more a 'larky' label - I'm sure the OP wasn't being coy in using the phrase.

Full waxing/shaving is a newish social phenomenon - and it's reasonable to discuss it, along the lines off body image, getting older, sexual activity, etc.

Why don"t you start Greatnan ?

Ana Wed 03-Jul-13 17:35:24

And no, I don't mean Pete!

Ana Wed 03-Jul-13 17:31:59

Frank doesn't usually contribute to threads like this. There is, however, another male poster who does. Let's hope he hasn't noticed....hmm

vegasmags Wed 03-Jul-13 17:28:41

Galen you are braver than me! I was dying to make a reference to the F word, but was put off by all the potential bleating about how harmless/what fun it all is. Good for you. grin

Greatnan Wed 03-Jul-13 17:04:13

What is wrong with using the proper biological term? We are not children.

Ana Wed 03-Jul-13 16:58:18

suzied! grin

Galen Wed 03-Jul-13 16:40:34

Has anyone noticed that a certain member with a *london pension has not contributed to this thread?

I thought it an interesting cultural phenomenon, I didn't associate it with intrusive weirdos, sex or porn, but maybe thats me being naive. There was an article in the Daily Telegraph about it for goodness sake. If people don't want to discuss it they don't have to. If some people are titivated by grannies discussing it more fool them. I thought "lady garden" quite an attractive term, and has floral, fragrant and attractive connotations, and what's wrong with that. It's better than front bottom, no?

Ariadne Wed 03-Jul-13 14:35:45

grin

merlotgran Wed 03-Jul-13 14:01:28

LOL There's no answer to that, Elegran grin

j08 Wed 03-Jul-13 13:52:01

Shall we move over to the gardening forum? confused

Elegran Wed 03-Jul-13 13:47:01

The association of lady gardens with caves is a bit odd. I would have thought that a garden would lead to a front door. A cave is more likely to be surrounded by wild tangled vegetation (probably rather rank)

j08 Wed 03-Jul-13 13:46:45

Why have we all got to suddenly get uptight up about anything to do with - wait for it - SEX!!!

hmm

j08 Wed 03-Jul-13 13:46:00

I hope you all steered well clear of this one

And definitely this one

j08 Wed 03-Jul-13 13:42:43

If it was through Gransnet, did you report it to HQ? They would block that person.

If it wasn't through Gransnet, well, be more careful where you post stuff. hmm

Greatnan Wed 03-Jul-13 13:40:10

The horrible euphemism was enough to put me off.

Nonu Wed 03-Jul-13 12:53:38

I agree , ELLA.
smile

Ella46 Wed 03-Jul-13 12:44:13

I think if you've ever been targeted by a weirdo you'd feel a little less comfortable about it happening again.

j08 Wed 03-Jul-13 11:55:49

I don't mean WD 40

j08 Wed 03-Jul-13 11:55:07

What about that thread that Geraldine started, about lubricants?
