Hot weather bras

I find wearing my usual bras very uncomfortable in the heat. I am a 34D and prefer an underwired bra. I am trying to find a cotton bra but had no luck so far as they all seem to be cotton rich, meaning that they have spandex or some sort of elastic component. Does anyone know where I could find a bra that is 100% cotton?

I usually buy Triumph bras and get a good fit with those, but in the heat, the man made material feels unbearable. I've ordered a comfort bra over the internet, so here's hoping. [fingers crossed emoticon]

'Triumph has the bra for the way you are...'

vegasmags Fri 19-Jul-13 22:02:10

Indeed Ana it feels like a blooming triumph to get one that fits grin

when it's so hot I discard my bra (and panties) wear loose cotton dress or top with long flowing skirt -

Me too maniac. I didn't wear a bra till I started working with offenders ..... I am not as skinny as I used to be, and also not as tidily shaped, so I do wear one out and about. As soon as I get home, underwear comes off, something loose and cotton goes on. Undies in this heatwave are not very comfortable are they - in fact no clothes at all is the way to go, but it's the horses isn't it

Sorry I can't make the link blue on my phone but if you look at www.daxon.co.uk they have a pack of 2 100% cotton underwired

Nina - you star - indeed they do! (Tries to control her excitement)

I have no choice but to wear a bra (36J!!!) but I find it useful to use a spray deodorant all round and under my boobs before putting the bra on. I also pop a tissue down my (ample) cleavage and that is good too. As for the "chub rub" mentioned, I find Lanacane fantastic, but if I run out, a bit of "lube" with silicone in (a necessity as we get older ;)) is just as good.

hmmWhere do you keep all these horses?

Elegran Sat 20-Jul-13 12:59:30

confused Which horses, enviousamerican ? I thought this thread was about bras. Have you posted on the wrong thread? Or got the wrong end of the stick? I have heard of references to puppies with pink noses, sacks of wriggling piglets and so on but horses? That would need a size ZZZ cup!

vegasmags Sat 20-Jul-13 13:01:29

I think it's all the references that have been made to wearing a bra so as not to frighten the horses grin

Enviousamerican Sat 20-Jul-13 13:09:22

Yes! Comments about horses..just couldn't resist! Sorry...grin

Envious; check out a horse called Hunt Ball that is running in one of the jumps races at [I think?] Saratoga in the next week or so. He's a very good horse but has been sold to run in America by his slightly bonkers owner [he wanted to paint him green for one race]. Glad he's gone to [hopefully] a more considerate owner now.

Lat link didn't work. There used to be a horse called 32DD [or something like that]. Was owned by a bra manufacturer. You can imagine some of the comments made when she was running 'jockey has a double handful' being one of them blush. [apologies for those of a sensitive nature; this was a few years back I hasten to add]

Oldgreymare Sat 20-Jul-13 22:16:39

Crikey Tegan I really liked Hunt Ball whom I first saw running at Wincanton (and told No. 2 son to keep an eye out for him) I did think he went off the boil after his meteoric rise, I was always concerned that he might 'burn out'.

Oldgreymare Sat 20-Jul-13 22:17:22

Bit far from hot weather bras!!!!!! smile

Nelliemoser Sat 20-Jul-13 23:02:21

Tegan 32DD was my Daughters size before pregnancy. I remember whe she was about 14 spending two hours in John Lewis with the assistant trying to get her an uplift bra to fit. It seems they just don't work right on large boobs and a narrow back. It would need a structural engineer.

Tegan Sun 21-Jul-13 14:07:32

OGM; Hunt Ball's work rider in America has got a Twitter account which is charting his progress. I'll see if I can do a link of some kind. Nellie; being pregnant and breast feeding was the only time in my youth when I had a bust [until I put on some post menopause weight] so I was quite excited about it. I know when I was little I used to look at Sindy/Barbie type dolls and think 'I'll look like that one day'..but it never materialised sad]...

I love Bravissimo. When I first went there, I was wearing totally the wrong size. Their fitting ladies sorted me out. The bras seemed to change my shape. I always thought this shop was for fuller figures ladies but I am a size 14. I was wearing a 36C and they measured me as a 32FF.
I was gobsmacked but the bras fit beautifully.

Oldgreymare Sun 21-Jul-13 19:17:38

Thanks Tegan, but I do think that was an odd thing to do, Mr Knott seemed so fond of the horse.
KatyK, I must be the only person I know who didn't need a fuller cup no matter how I tried to puff my chest out sad

HildaW Sun 21-Jul-13 20:03:48

KatyK....no Bravissimo is for slender as well as the more ravishing figure! Its more to do with the chest to cup size ratio and yes, once you have the correct size it makes a huge difference...it lifts 'them' up and lets the air circulate much better.

KatyK Mon 22-Jul-13 15:13:38

Hilda - yes I agree. Didn't realise I could go to Bravissimo have been pleased with their bras. Oldgreymare - I think I would be happier with smaller cups now that gravity has taken over !

MamaCaz Thu 15-Aug-13 17:46:40

If I go bra-less, the sweat literally runs down my front! I'm not huge, only a 34D, but I need the bra to lift my boobs enough to let the air flow! I've even taken to wearing one in bed in the last couple of years for the same reason (menopause!!!) .

For some reason, all my bras became very discoloured around the fasteners when the weather was really hot and I was sweating a lot. The discolouration (red patches) hasn't washed out, so now need to buy new ones. Is it just me?
