Rediscovering old friends

Hurrah! I have started on the "transhumance" of the winter clothes from the bags in the attic to the bedroom (OK spare bedroom at the mo - all over the bed) and am rediscovering items that are like old friends to me! Wondering if they will fit, mind you but so glad didn't shell out money on a new pair of grey trousers in sales as have found not one, not two but three pairs I had forgotten I had! Also a brocade jacket which I can only have worn about 3 times with 2 pairs of slate blue trousers which go perfectly. Oh frabjous day!! Now it just has to stay autumnal - no more Indian summers please, the white linen trousers and T shirts are in their bags ready for the next stage smile

Not a problem I have. I have so few clothes that I do not need to store any away. Every time I get a charity bag through the door, I give away a few of Ken's, so my clothes have even more room to breathe, but I haven't bought any new clothes since we moved to Durham over three years ago. Apart from underwear, of course.

I work on the one out, one in basis and can get all my clothes into one wardrobe and two drawers in one (large ) chest of drawers.

This is not due to any assumed virtue but because I find it actually bothers me to have too many clothes. I feel uncomfortable having clothes in my wardrobe that I do not wear regularly. Most of my family and friends think this really peculiar and I expect they are right.

Glad you're feeling better gracesmum
It has only just dawned on me, at least 5 years after the last child has left home, that I no longer have to cram all my many clothes, some dating back to the 80's, in the cupboard in my bedroom.
I can actually move the less frequently worn items into the wardrobe in the spare bedroom!!
Lightbulb moment!!

We must both be peculiar, Flickety. My youngest granddaughter asks me why I do not have any new clothes. I say because I do not need any. She's six years old and works on want, not need. However, I have just realised that she has seen me wear the same dozen or so outfits for half of her life!
I also remember when the eldest one said, "Granny, you've got a skirt!"
I told her I had more than one, I just never wore them.

I wore a skirt to a family get together earlier on this year and my 15yr old grandaughter said, 'Wow, Granny, I love you in that skirt. I think I was nine when you bought it!'

At this time of year I start looking forward to wearing winter clothes again. Thick tights. Jumpers, scarves etc.

DD1 'borrows' some of my clothes which I then rediscover and 'borrow' them back

I also had the lightbulb moment and started using the wardrobe in the spare bedroom but my two GDs have not only started leaving spare clothes in it, they have taken the whole room with a sign on the door 'this room belongs to etc.' for the nights they stay at ours.
