Offensive and patronising. I find the very description of older women, with or without grandchildren as 'grannys' offensive. It is fine as a name within a family circle, but as a generic, unacceptable.

Cliched, shows only very elderly and mainly disabled women. 'Grandmothers come all shapes and sizes and there are plenty who even in old age are upright fit and well

I am getting more and more angry about the way being old is being equated with being disabled. Nowadays to be the first is to be assumed to bethe second. There are old people and there are disabled people and there is a big overlap, but not big enough to consider the terms synonymous.

That's just reminded me of my friend who is just coming up to her 60th, and having a mid life crisis. She has been having motorbike lessons and is about to take her test. If you met her you would think she was a quietly glamorous mouse. Can't wait to see her in her leathers! As her OH is the type that always wears a tie when out of the house, he is a little disconcerted.

I like Boden! Not everything, admittedly but it's very well made. I think they are great grannies, surely. One of my grandmas dressed rather like no8, and I have a very elderly village friend who is rather like no7. I wonder how old Tim Walker is. Maybe it's his view of an adult's granny.

June - the flattering one-piece swimsuit shot (off peak holiday season of course)
July - what the well dressed gardening G (or lying around in the garden) is wearing in hot weather
August - G on the beach building sandcastles or shrimping. It is now drizzling so summer weight waterproofs and plastic sandals de rigeur
September - G at the school gate, NOT in her nightwear
October - G at the school gate in Boden, with new boots not uggs
November - G in winter work clothes giving a powerpoint presentation
December - what is this sexist thing about father xmas bringing the presses? - all the Gs dressed up in red suit but no scary false beards in sight.

I'd be available to pose on a Harley Davidson - in leathers, if I could find them to fit.

Riverwalk - I have been a fan of Tim Walker's photos for along time - his work is far, far better than what is shown in this book and usually very imaginative, particularly the sets he dreams up, which is missing here anyway (apart from the bedroom which is probably not a set at all!).

AKA I'm up for a gransnet calendar only I'll wear the wackiest clothes I can find and maybe dye my hair pink too !

This is surely a man's idea of how grannies dress. Male transvestites always seem to wear very strange combinations of clothes that no woman wouls be seen out in, and rather overdone hair and makeup. I always want to go up to them and say "Haven't you noticed that women actually dress quite like men, but just have longer hair and more jewellery?"

Was this book promoted by GNHQ some time back - or is that my imagination?

Why was that 'pink' granny lying on her bed surrounded by hat boxes? Most of those look more like great grannies or ever great great ones.

They look like G grans or even GG grans. Who on earth is going to buy this book? Who on earth would want it as a Christmas gift ?

I used to take one of my son's friends to school for a while when they were aged about 6 or 7. As I drove up to his house one afternoon to drop him off, his grandma who was staying came out to meet him. She was dressed in skin tight leather trousers and teetered along in stiletto heels. She definitely redefined "granny" for me!
