Warm, cosy and comfortable, leggings are very popular.
But are we too old?
How can we wear them without looking a fright??

My M and S jeggings (£15) are on an elastic waist. I love them to bits, especially with my new, furry croc boots.

I love them glam, but my others are skinny jeans as the jeggings are just too clingy for me.

Gagagran I think I might have the differences right I may be wrong, leggings are just a sort of thicker pair of say footless tights that you can wear under longish tops (to hide the lumps & bumps) jeggings are cut on the style of jeans with mainly a zip & button fastening but are very close fit and nearly all have pockets at front or back, treggings are cut closer than skinny jeans but have the seam sewn in down the front leg giving a more elegant look but not as formal as well cut trousers ?? I think I may have that right but not 100% so I will stand corrected if need be.
Lorna its the black faux trimmed ones I have ordered and the denim ones with the side ankle zip was waiting for offers on jeans/trousers but none at the moment.

Please can someone explain the difference between leggings, jeggings and treggings? I am very confused! confused

I've got some black treggings from M&S, they are really comfy but look quite smart. They've got zip pockets on the front trimmed with faux leather. I think they were in the Autograph section.

^^ missed the K out of Marks again !!

Has anyone tried Mars & Spencer "Treggings" ? they are doing a wider range of them this year and just wondered if anyone had bought them,I was thinking of the denim ones for winter and the black ones for over Christmas as they are not as formal as trousers and just a bit less casual than leggings.

I was very economical with my "old" leggings last week. Rather than throw them out when they startedto go saggy, I took them on my winter holiday up snowy mountains, wore them under my jeans and then threw them away before i did my packing for coming home. Leggings hardly take up any room when you only take hand luggage and the discarded pairs left a bit of room for yummy swiss chocolate!
Got a nice pair of velvety leggings from M and s outlet a couple of weeks ago but a bit disappointed, after one wash I can seen shiny bit where I knelt down in them one time only. I agree with whoever said m and s arent big enough in the back bottom area, perhaps they might be better worn back to front, will give it a try!

Yes. A thousand times yes to leggings. Used to wear them in the 80s and was so glad when they came back into 'fashion' so I could stock up with some.

They are comfortable and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion; they have elasticated waists, so are comfortable; the long tops I wear with them cover all unsightly bulges; they are an ageless item ....

what's NOT to like about them? Long live leggings! grin

Oldgreymare Wed 04-Dec-13 09:56:41

No! I promise.... tab at the back as my lovely Mum used to say when I first started to dress myself many moons ago.
Concluded I'm a size 12 but bum is a generous 14!!!!!

mrsmopp Mon 02-Dec-13 22:49:27

Not wearing them back to front are you ??? hmm

Oldgreymare Sat 30-Nov-13 23:20:51

Disappointed with my M&S thermal 'leggings' they come up to my waist at the front but not at the back, hasn't anyone told the manufacturers that there needs to be more room behind to cover a behind?????
They did keep me warm tho' smile

My legs would look even fatter if I did that. Will wear tights tomorrow [hadn't thought of doing that today]. That'll hold my tummy in as well. Still feel as if I'm walking around half dressed, though blush.

Ana Fri 29-Nov-13 17:59:52

You could wear your Asda thermal leggings under your ordinary ones, Tegan - I've been wearing mine under jeans, trousers, everything! Bought two more pairs the other day...

Oldgreymare Fri 29-Nov-13 17:23:18

I remember that, I used to buy sweaters from the mens' dept to get them big and baggy! They have all stood the test of time too!!!

Tegan Fri 29-Nov-13 17:02:02

Realised why M&S sell thermal leggings; my legs felt a bit cold today. But chuffed that I can wear all my old long woolly sweaters [the beatnik look grin].

Oldgreymare Fri 29-Nov-13 10:25:55

Got thermal vest and 'leggings' as underpinnings, do they count?
Also tried fleece-lined tights, a gift from a friend. Cosy but lethal if walking in 'stockinged feet' on a hard surface, very slippery! Health and safety will withdraw them from the market, I'm sure! smile

Thatbags

"and minibags gave me such a look! I said: "That bad?" and she said "Yes". I said "Oh good" and felt great"

I'm still laughing grin

You are my role model. Envious sigh over being allowed to wear sheepskin boots in public mine are referred to as flying boots as in I'm really a witch and they are nightime house attire only (draughty old house and really huge heating bills).

Nonu Wed 27-Nov-13 13:37:59

give Soop , a huggy-wuggy from me . !

thatbags Wed 27-Nov-13 13:15:53

Thank you, jane and nonu smile. I think they look fab, and that's what counts wink. Trying some out on our Soop tomorrow.

Nonu Wed 27-Nov-13 09:42:19

Hi Thatbags your outfit sounds Tres Chic , good on yer ! X

janeainsworth Wed 27-Nov-13 09:03:19

Bags I'm sure the time will come in the not too distant future when you are able to reward Minibags' brutal honesty by returning the compliment grin
I'm sure your Gudruns look fab.

I'll bump the thread up again.
