Mine was a navy mini dress, with lime trim around the collar and sleeves, with some green sling backs with a black high heel possibly from Freeman Hardy and Willis.

I thought I looked the business ! wink

Dusky pink dress which ended at upper thigh level, buttons all down one side from neck to hem and high 'Nehru' neckline with hotpants beneath, worn with large floppy pink hat with daisies around the brim and white knee-high patent boots - ooooh, if only I could wear that now.

Black Biba jersey maxi dress. Buttons all the way down and it had a wide belt and a peplum. Have wanted to find a picture of it so I could get someone to remake it for me. Lived in it at the time with brown leather boots.

A pink denim bikini. I thought I looked like Ursula Andress. hmm

White Op-Art Mary Quant-style mini-dress. Also very fond of a pair of Biba zig-zag print bell-bottoms. Now it's my bottom that looks more bell-shaped...shock!

A bright orange cotton coat with big yellow flowers all over it and big buttons down the front with an oversized peaked cap, white boots with cut out detail around the top and a big white handbag finished with oversized sunglasses which I couldn't see out of when they where worn.shock

A navy pinstripe hipster miniskirt, my first. It was a couple of inches above my knee my Dad was horrified . Worn with a white belt and beige patent clumpy shoes with buckles on the front. I thought I was defo the bees knees.

Black pinafore mini with a skinny white jumper and platform mary-janes. Very Twiggy.

Dark green jumbo cord hipster mini skirt with wide leather belt, worn with a tan cardi and jumper twinset from M and S (remember the multitude of colours?). Wore it with black maxi leather coat with a deep split up the back and belt fastened at the back. Beige daisy Mary Quant tights, brown Hush Puppies, black Gladstone bag. Two pairs of eyelashes, curtain of long hair. Kept all my gear on and danced round the bag at the Twisted Wheel, Manchester. I have never been so cool! grin

I can't remember! wink

KatyK Sun 02-Mar-14 18:50:19

Green (with tiny black flowers) mini dress with matching coat in a sort of a fine cord, Size 8 grin

BlueBelle Sun 02-Mar-14 18:52:36

a very very short bright orange crocheted skirt and matchig crop top worn with high white (plastic) leather look boots and Nana Mouscouri glasses

Living in Brum I've no idea where I used to get my Biba clothes from confused.

NanKate Sun 02-Mar-14 19:10:31

I was in Brum too Tegan in the 1960s. Do you remember Neatawear ?

Tegan Sun 02-Mar-14 19:26:34

No, but I used to go to a little boutique near to Lewis's [wish I could remember what it was called].

Lona Sun 02-Mar-14 19:39:13

Hey when, I was at the Twisted Wheel that night! grin
I had some fab clothes, but my favourite clubbing gear was a black polo neck fine knit sweater, tucked in a hipster red A line mini that buttoned down the front, with a black belt.
I topped it with a mid brown, wide cord 'Beatle' jacket (no collar and front buttons) from a trendy mens boutique in Stockport, called................???
I also had my hair in a Beatle cut.

whenim64 Sun 02-Mar-14 19:47:07

The Toggery, Lona? Then, later there was Seven Miles Out?

whenim64 Sun 02-Mar-14 19:48:39

At Seven Miles Out, the owner had a real Mountain Lion that walked around the shop! I kid you not!!!

Lona Sun 02-Mar-14 19:53:34

Yes, the Toggery! I knew that you would know it!
I don't remember the lion, thank goodness.

whenim64 Sun 02-Mar-14 19:56:00

The lion didn't last long, but the shop was there for a few years, near the Garrick Theatre.

Lona Sun 02-Mar-14 19:57:44

Yes, I remember the shop and the theatre! Too much Gilbert and Sullivan with my mum and dad grin

rosequartz Sun 02-Mar-14 19:58:26

Very long fitted but flowing maxi dress, when I said to the shop assistant that it seemed a bit longer at the back she said 'that's because you have no bum to fill it out'! Those were the days.

Any mini skirt or dress - and tights instead of stockings and suspenders.

rosequartz Sun 02-Mar-14 20:00:33

C & A (I didn't have much money!)

Soutra Sun 02-Mar-14 20:12:57

A very short tweed kilt and a matching shetland jersey from the St Andrews Woollen Mill, knee boots and a fake fur coat which I had made (or my Mum) from a cut-out offer in "Honey" just before I went up to university.

grannyactivist Sun 02-Mar-14 20:30:21

A purple mini dress with a sequined mandarin collar worn with bright pink stiletto shoes and I used to get my hair put up in a contorted style at the hairdressers. (No choice about clothing, shoes or hair as all were chosen by my stepmother - I used to wear some very odd things and now I suspect that my clothes had been shoplifted blush.) The ironic thing is that I rarely went out anywhere worth dressing up for.
