Do you cut 'em? clip 'em? Bite 'em? Paint 'em?

Cut and paint in summer. But is it me or the older a person gets the more difficult it is to reach the toenails particularly the little ones - I do end up in some interesting positions

Oh dear I`ve managed to post 3 times - sometimes I just despair of myself

rosequartz Sun 18-May-14 12:37:33

Surely socks with sandals usually go with a beard? As with one dear and lovely chap I worked with a few years ago. I never saw his toenails, however.

rosequartz Sun 18-May-14 12:38:33

I thought perhaps you were in an interesting position, sparkygran, that is why you kept hitting the 'post' button.

Marmight Sun 18-May-14 13:38:25

I always have my toenails 'polished' in summer or whenever my feet are on view. At the mo, They are a lovely bronzey orange shade which compliments the tan I got in France last week but I usually go for burgundy or purple. However, I have to have someone else do them as I go over the edges if I try myself! confused
I hate having my fingernails painted - they feel trapped as in claustrophobia and they always get chipped, so why bother. I have the same feeling with the fizog which is why I hardly ever wear makeup, not that it would make much difference to the lines, creases and double chins......

rosequartz Sun 18-May-14 13:43:52

Perhaps I should treat myself and get my toenails done, however they are not the prettiest sight in the world even with nail polish.

Ninathenana, sorry, I forgot to say that it`s also a podiatry clinic.

Cut and scarlet all year round smile but finger nails are usually bare, sometimes put a little nude varnish on them but very rarely. treebee Avon gel is really good I it was reduced grin

Ariadne Sun 18-May-14 19:13:28

Toenails? Can't believe there are three pages on this topic! They're there, need to be trimmed, need to be clean. Done.

Ana Sun 18-May-14 19:21:11

Marmight you are the only person I've ever come across who who gets that 'claustrophobic' feeling if they wear nail varnish, like me! It's as though my fingernails can't breathe - so I don't wear it! grin

Purpledaffodil Sun 18-May-14 19:34:09

Going on school trip for a week involving thick socks and walking boots so no point in varnishing toenails until I get back. May even treat myself to annual pedicure to celebrate sunshine. That said, prepare for snow at leastgrin

rosequartz Sun 18-May-14 19:41:01

Three pages on toenails - they are fascinating! How many pages can it keep going for?

Now, what colour shall I varnish mine, something that goes with everything as I can't be bothered to keep doing them?

jcdoh Sun 18-May-14 19:47:55

jane ainsworth the V cut in toe nails is not true! cant be done unless they are over long.

kittylester Sun 18-May-14 20:01:10

Having my toe nails done at the local beauty shop in the village serves two purposes - nice nails on appalling feet and a catch up on village gossip. It has to be done at least every six weeks!

No point in having my finger nails done, last time one was chipped before I made it home - a five minute walk confused

glassortwo Sun 18-May-14 20:08:18

Oh no kitty cant let anyone else touch my feet, have to do it myself.

Ana Sun 18-May-14 20:11:37

Aren't we a funny lot? grin

glassortwo Sun 18-May-14 20:14:17

Speak for yourself ana wink

Ana Sun 18-May-14 20:26:56

I was - see my post about 'claustrophobic nails'! wink

glassortwo Sun 18-May-14 20:34:03

grin

harrigran Sun 18-May-14 21:23:34

Soak, exfoliate, cut nails straight across and then varnish, colour to match my mood anything from palest pink to scarlet grin

Some people have fancy nail art on their fingernails. Can you have it done on your toes? and does anyone?

Purpledaffodil Sun 18-May-14 21:35:44

JessM you can have fancy stuff on your toes. Had pretty gold design on mine last year. Never see the point on fingers, chips too soon. Have been told shellac worth trying. grin
