Have you ever looked in a mirror in passing and wished you hadn't?I did just that today, and saw a little pale worried old face looking back at me! I have had some sort of virus this week and can't stop coughing, but didn't realise I looked THAT bad.I went off and slapped some tanning moisturiser on it. Now it looks like a little worried old face [but tanned.]I think I give up.

I've found a large studio photograph of me at 24, looking very presentable. I shall stick it over the bathroom mirror. grin

We have a few mirrors in our house. One has the light coming from above and I don't look too bad. The others have light from the side and you can see every wrinkle and blemish.

I looked in the mirror and thought I looked quite good ....... but then I wasn't wearing my glasses and I'm blind as a bat without them.. plus I didn't have the light on ...so maybe not so good hmm

Has anybody else ever made the mistake of looking down at a mirror to pluck their eyebrows? I tell you what, I'll never make that mistake again after seeing that Sumo wrestler glaring back at me.

In my bathroom, where there used to be a mirror, there now hangs an artist's impression of me when I am a very old lady. A present from my husband, I guess, although he's never mentioned it...

kittylester Mon 16-Jun-14 15:34:53

I've just been to the hairdresser, had my highlights done, had a cut and blow dry and I still look like my 90 year old mother. sad

rosequartz Mon 16-Jun-14 14:32:09

I haven't seen them in our flagship M&S either; perhaps they are just available online. Just wondering how low they are - I don't like a round neck style but can't wear them too low.

Will look at Kettlewell later, as I haven't heard of them. smile

kittylester Mon 16-Jun-14 11:59:46

I've just done a Kettlewell order Rowan - I love the wraps too! smile

Rowantree Mon 16-Jun-14 11:58:07

anno - the M&S tops you've shown are much cheaper than Kettlewell, but I do love Kettlewell's range of colours and styles. And they do free delivery so you can try them on in privacy at home and send them back if they don't suit you!

Rowantree Mon 16-Jun-14 11:56:18

I'd LOVE three-quarter sleeves. I buy many tops from an online company called Kettlewell Colours, who do loads of different styles in a rainbow of colours. UNfortunately they aren't cheap - but I love their wraps which I wear over sleeveless tops to hide my pork sausage arms, and some of their tops are very flattering. Worth looking out for their special offers, or when they have colour sales on smile

rosesarered Mon 16-Jun-14 11:55:20

Yay! Thanks for that anno I think the M&S I usually go to is maybe too small to stock them [I have never seen them there] so I must find a larger store.I would order online but our computer can't deal with the new M&S website, so it's unuseable.

annodomini Mon 16-Jun-14 11:51:28

sherish - as you can see from my link, they do still stock them and the selection of colours has improved this year.

annodomini Mon 16-Jun-14 11:49:53

I have quite a collection of M&S tee-shirts with near-elbow length sleeves. like this. I find that they wash well and last year's ones are still in good shape.

sherish Mon 16-Jun-14 10:56:19

I have some basic T shirts from M&S that I bought quite a while ago and they do have elbow length sleeves. I love them and although they are quite old now I won't part with them. I also wish they would do them again.

rosesarered Mon 16-Jun-14 10:41:54

Wouldn't it be great if M&S did 3/4 sleeves in the T shirts?I would buy lots. They keep banging on about their long sleeved dresses [it's a start] but we need it in other tops as well.
Rowantree I'm sure nobody else thinks that you look like a quail, and I for one, can't even think what a quail looks like [though we have eaten them at a friends house, but once cooked, hard to tell.] grin

rosequartz Mon 16-Jun-14 10:28:15

Quails are very attractive birds, Rowantree. wink

ps M&S are still making t-shirts with Very Short Sleeves which show that bingo wing.

Rowantree Mon 16-Jun-14 10:09:45

I hate looking at photos of myself. I look like an ageing quail or one of those waddly chickens with puffy leg feathers. Not pleasant. The only bits of myself that looks OK and which I don't mind are my hands and forearms. Everything else looks disgusting sad

kittylester Sun 15-Jun-14 18:23:42

My hairdresser has a magic mirror. I go in thinking that she will exclaim how awful my hair looks and yet once I sit down it looks quite respectable. confused

PRINTMISS Sun 15-Jun-14 12:01:31

Looking in the mirror face-wise is a necessity, isn't it for doing hair and make-up. What I hate is the videos of me walking along, or standing still side-ways or rear view, I can't really be that broad can I?

rosesarered Sun 15-Jun-14 10:40:27

Vot did you shay anno? grin Ah, yes, that's better, the teeth are now in.
AKA can you tell me where you bought this magical mirror? I want one too. soutra I think we all are a bit guilty of that...... thinking our friends look older than us [when they are thinking the same of us] quite funny really. I refuse to look at back views, it's quite enough worrying about front views and remembering to suck in the tummy for photo's. ]
mishap you are probably right, confidence in itself is attractive. Right, repeat after me everyone, ' we are all highly attractive women, at all times of day or night, so much so, that it's hardly safe for us to go out alone'. We may be mobbed! Did it work for you? Perhaps if we say it several times a day?

annodomini Sun 15-Jun-14 10:26:17

When you see that woman in the mirror, smile at her... but put your teeth in first. grin

Mishap Sun 15-Jun-14 09:49:28

I have a theory - if you think you look good, you will look good, because you will exude confidence and joy! Don't study the detail too closely, it might burst your bubble!

Atqui Sat 14-Jun-14 08:34:12

Worse than a mirror is the image on FaceTime.!!!!
