lipstick that lasts - any recommendations

JessM I can't do really bright, and especially not a red though I'd love to. I was a ginger redhead, now blonde/caramel and still with freckles.

Petallus It doesn't have to withstand snogging - I've usually taken my lippy off.

I've never paid the sorts of prices for Chanel etc....might do so for the perfect lippy but would like a sample first.

Superstay and Lipfinity are looking tops.....hate any feathering.

Mabelline, think it's the Superstay. You apply the colour with a wand, leave it to dry - or blot it with tissue if you don't want it too bright - then use the balm over the top. It's the only one I've found so far that doesn't bleed into those horrible feathery lines around your mouth. Might try the Max Factor Lipfinity though .

Mabelline Superstay and Loreal Infallible lipstick really do last all day even after eating Not expensive either and lots of lovely colours.

You get what you pay for. Mac, Estée Lauder, Chanel - they all stay put. More expensive, but I've had mine for over a year.

Tesco's, Barbara Daly are good lipsticks and very reasonable. I like the way they are not too opaque and heavy, and not too gloopy and lip-glossy but a bit semi-transparent and when they wear off a bit your lips still hold the colour. I use the light red, having decided a couple of years ago that red lipstick is a way of staving off the tendency to become invisible when you reach 60.
(I read an article that pointed out that there is a version of red that suits everyone...)
I have another one that is a more opaque really knock em dead red (I think its l'oreal) that is good for more dressed up occasions rather than everyday informal.

Max Factor Lip Finity is it. I bought my first one for my son's wedding a few years ago, I needed something that would last all day and it did. When I bought my last one the girl on the make up counter said that people usually stick to it once they have tried it out.

I have tried many many lipsticks in pursuit of this staying power and have concluded Chanel to be the best so far (expensive yes but I only buy one or two a year). I'm using Clarins Lip Oil at the moment to contact very dry cracked lips left over from many colds in the winter- seems to be working.

Does it have to survive snogging?

Lip Finity sounds a goer also.

I am totally washed out without a touch of lipstick.

Max Factor Lip Finity is very good. I go for a pale shade (500). It can be a bit drying, but not overly so.

Magic lipstick, definitely. I wear the green one, which comes out a deep pink, then put other brands on top. They wear off but the pink stays until I think to check it and apply again if necessary. It last through the night sometimes. They are a lip stain.

Max Factor, Lip Finity. Stays on so well that when I wear it I have to use make up remover to get it off! Paint the stuff on, use the separate stuff provided in the pack to put a bit of a shine on it and away you go. I used to re-apply the glosser from time to time, but the colour stays put!

Can find that your lips do get a bit dry after using it though.

I am guessing they do a bit Ana, but it comes off easily when you take make up off at night. they are the only lipsticks that work for me, and to save postage I buy three at a time and they last ages, not expensive anyway.

Do they dye your lips?

Yes, buy magic lipsticks, they really work.Try in Debenhams or Boots, if not buy online ( I do) they are usually colours like white or green, don't be alarmed, they go pink or apricot depending on what you buy and stay on even after a meal.

I wear a Nude lip colour but only use a pencil. Outline my lips first then fill lips in with the pencil. I then lightly apply lip salve as I don't want a matt look.

Stays on for hours.

I've never worn lipstick in the past, don't like the garish look of some, but now I'm getting on a bit I do think I look a bit washed out and have tried the odd one or two. Long-lastingness (?) wouldn't be a priority for me though.

If you google something like 'best lipsticks for staying power' you'll probably find some recommendations.

Lipstick doesn't last 3 minutes on me, regardless of make sadly.
I think I must lick it off or something without consciously realising.
