This question has just been put to the listeners on Woman's Hour.

I wondered what you were all wearing.

As we are shortly off to see the CG for 2 days then moving onto the New Forest for a week I am dressed in what I would describe as smart casual.

Nice grey/black/silver striped sweater with a slightly nautical feel.
Light grey woolly cotton jacket embellished with an Art Deco style brooch
Dark Grey comfy trousers from M & S - good for the journey.
Purple suede and leather flat shoes from Hotter, can't wear heels now.

Admittedly I am not a fashion icon because comfort is my aim.

Having spent a few hours with my two young boys I will be looking as if I have been dragged through a hedge backwards, as my mother used to say. grin

I started off in last years off white sandals, navy cotton three-quarter length trousers and a mid blue polo shirt. Then DH suggested going out to lunch smile so I changed into this years sandals, beige shock suede sandals, the same trousers and a slightly smarter navy and grey tee shirt. Now I'm wearing long navy trousers, the blue polo shirt and a grey cardigan. Oh, and comfortable shoes and navy socks.

I'm another one who likes to get into my pjs early. There is nothing nicer than when I begin to feel tired knowing I am ready to hop into bed after a two minute tooth cleaning session, plus a bit of flossing to keep my hygienist happy.

Worked today. Wearing straight green chinos, green and white blouse and green waterfall cardi, all from Boden.

Tiered cotton skirt in 2 shades of green plus a bit of white, pale mauve t-shirt, red slippers with cream imitation fur trim. It was a stay home day with nobody expected apart from Asda delivery man, so what I wore didn`t really matter, as you can see.

Dark pink embellished tee-shirt, (almost) matching Primark gilet, navy jeans and tan lace-ups.

Blue jeans, grey tee shirt, blue earrings and bare feet except when I put on sandals to collect the three-year-old grandson from preschool. The temperature is 20°C today, but it is autumn and chilly in the mornings and evenings. Shorts, singlets and summer skirts have all been put away until November an the warm weather comes.

Leticia Thu 07-May-15 07:08:34

I shall be getting up and putting on my usual jeans and jumper- (blue with a cable stitch today).

Bez Thu 07-May-15 07:10:54

Smart but not all black - unfortunately going to the funeral of a friend.

Marelli Thu 07-May-15 07:50:53

This morning, smart/casual. Baggy M&S linen trousers, new flowery top (courtesy of birthday voucher from GN friend- she knows who she is), long Monsoon cardigan and sandals. Doing my weekly volunteering stint at the local heritage centre. smile.

REVENGE for gillybob and glass. My daughter bought me a number of lovely presents for my birthday last Tuesday – including a very large wine glass with levels marked "easy day", "rough day" and "don't even ask" – I'm sure that if I filled to the latter it would contain best part of a bottle. Anyway, to the point – she also bought a really beautiful silky tunic top in shades of teal and pink – colours that she (rightly?) thinks suit me – and has instructed me to BUY SOME LEGGINGS TO WEAR WITH IT. We are having a family lunch on Sunday to celebrate Mothers' Day (it's a different date in NZ) – and I have to do it, don't I?

Nothing wrong with good quality leggings worn with a beautiful long length top and those colours sound gorgeous. Hie thee to the shops absent grin

I'm wearing a variation on what seems to have become my retirement uniform, at least until the weather warms up. Skinny denim jeans, navy sleeveless tshirt, periwinkle blue waist length cardigan and red loafers.

ffinnochio Thu 07-May-15 08:43:37

Walking uniform. Dark blue skinny jeans, layering t-shirts black over white, ancient walking boots with my faithful and very necessary insoles, cotton scarf, mustard yellow backpack filled with important stuff like camera and water and finally, to complete the ensemble, sunglasses and sunblock ....and I'm off! smile

Soutra Thu 07-May-15 09:09:32

All very smart and dare I say trendy Grannies! Not a beige pleated skirt in sight, crimplene slacks or a pastel mauve cardi in sight.
Better up the anti today!

Marmight Thu 07-May-15 09:10:29

Same as yesterday blush. ..... but I do have clean underwear and socks!

glassortwo Thu 07-May-15 09:14:38

Go on absent just do it grin and you will wonder why you hadn't done it before wink like the wine glass! wink

I am wearing dark blue skinny jeans, trainers, a checked shirt in varying shades of pink with cream and navy checks, all ready for the Busy body dance group with 15 month DGS when he wakes.

Ariadne Thu 07-May-15 09:25:10

Navy trousers and navy long sleeved top, with a Gap sleeveless cardigan in jade green. Navy crocs at the moment, but my so comfortable Ecco boots later when I'm off for a walk ( grin me - walk - who'd have though it??)

Rotary lunch, so will stick navy and white jacket on.

vegasmags Thu 07-May-15 09:30:31

Tatty old bootleg jeans, a thin sweater and a fleece, long socks and comfy shoes - expecting my DD and DGD at noon to stay for the weekend, followed by the rest of the family. On Saturday, 28 people will be coming for the afternoon to help us celebrate DGD's first birthday, so I am dressed in my cooking/picking up sticky little one gear.

Iam64 Thu 07-May-15 09:52:32

Jeans, fleece and walking boots, oh yes, arctic standard walking jacket. I'm just going out to walk the dogs - the weather looks menacing again.

janerowena Thu 07-May-15 09:52:57

I want to do some gardening today, so dark skinny jeans, long green vest top and long black and green striped stretchy t-shirt over that. A long dark green cardigan will go over that if I feel cold outside. Slippers currently, nephew's old boots for the garden. grin

Tonight it's knitting club, so black skinny jeans, cream, brown and magenta phase eight top and little magenta three quarter sleeve cardigan. Smart little comfortable Hotter ankle boots, as I shall walk up to the village hall to vote before going on to knitting club and it will be a bit of a trek.

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 09:53:52

Beige pleated skirt, white nylon blouse, beige cardigan and crimplene jacket.

grin

Just joking! Probably black trousers or jeans, stretchy top and long taupe/black cardigan. Black flyflot slipons
Quite boring - I am very impressed at how trendy you all sound!

And a waterproof, having just heard the rain tipping down - or it could be hail shock

janerowena Thu 07-May-15 09:59:52

The thing is - beige can look really good. Not head to toe, obviously, but I have a lovely cashmere cardigan in beige, and a top and also a cowl neck cashmere pullover. I think there is a beige cashmere coat buried in the dark depths of my coat wardrobe too, somewhere. Although I expect the moths have eaten it, it's so long since I wore it.

cazthebookworm Thu 07-May-15 10:05:41

The sun is out, so just for a change I shall be wearing my tutu and pink feathers in my hair.grin grin

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 10:05:54

I do have beige things, and was going to put on a beige long cardigan but it has angora in it which shreds all over black trousers!
I also have a warm beige cashmere jumper, v neck, but I don't think I wore it at all last winter, it can't have been that cold. I hope the moths haven't munched through it.

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 10:06:55

We look forward to a photo on another thread caz grin

cazthebookworm Thu 07-May-15 10:18:54
