This question has just been put to the listeners on Woman's Hour.

I wondered what you were all wearing.

As we are shortly off to see the CG for 2 days then moving onto the New Forest for a week I am dressed in what I would describe as smart casual.

Nice grey/black/silver striped sweater with a slightly nautical feel.
Light grey woolly cotton jacket embellished with an Art Deco style brooch
Dark Grey comfy trousers from M & S - good for the journey.
Purple suede and leather flat shoes from Hotter, can't wear heels now.

Admittedly I am not a fashion icon because comfort is my aim.

Having spent a few hours with my two young boys I will be looking as if I have been dragged through a hedge backwards, as my mother used to say. grin

Faded black jeans (dark grey then), thick hiking socks, short-sleeved cotton T, long-sleeved cotton T, cotton fleece 'Montana morning' sweatshirt. All those all day. Now plus a wool shawl round my shoulders, a mohair stole over my knees and a cashmere scarf doubled round my neck. I'll be taking two hot water bottles to bed and I want an electric blanket for my birthday in November.

It has been a really lovely autumn day sunshine

Khaki cargo trousers, red Craghoppers polo shirt and long navy cardigan. At present, sheepskin slippers and stripey socks. Was wearing navy trainers. Not much coordination there which would normally be anthema to me, but it's Sunday. hmm

My walking gear, because I have been on a Geology trip.

As it is 9.15pm I am in my red spotted stretchy nightie with my feet on my hottie watching the telly.

For the record I only go without a hottie for about 5 days a year shock

Plum coloured cotton trousers, toning multi coloured short-sleeved top and emerald green button through cardigan - in a colourful mood todaysmile.
Since retiring I've accumulated a wardrobe full of these sorts of clothes - cotton or linen trousers (polyester and Lycra in the winter), short and long sleeved tops, mostly cotton or cotton mix, and cardigans in various colours. Sweaters for the winter. These are what I wear every day unless an occasion calls for something different, but that is unusual.

Elegran Mon 14-Sept-15 09:47:16

Navy jeggings (really comfortable and easy to wear. I have just discovered these and love them, I ignore the comments of my children - "Are you wearing leggings?" - shock horror - "Are you going to be in a panto, Mum?". So far I haven't worn them out in public.)
White, navy, and red patterned t-shirt.
Old droopy cardigan (for warmth)
2 pairs socks, one pair of them welly-boot socks (also for warmth)
No shoes.

rubysong Mon 14-Sept-15 22:53:33

Jane, nightshirt inside. Onesie takes the place of a dressing gown, I don't sleep in it.

janeainsworth Mon 14-Sept-15 23:28:22

Ah! They do sound very cosy but being tall, I suspect I might feel a bit claustrophobic in one!

My nightie now because I have been dressed all day. Stupid bras.

But I did have bright flowery pants on, blue t shirt and lace shawl while I went out. But I do like to wear my duvet, from the inside! grin

First day of winter clothes: tweed effect leggings, red and black acetate top loosely belted - because - it is so darn cold. I nearly froze in my summer clothes yesterday (jeans, light cotton top and cotton sweater). Four fingers on each hand went yellow-white with the first attack of Reynauds Syndrome of the winter.
