This question has just been put to the listeners on Woman's Hour.

I wondered what you were all wearing.

As we are shortly off to see the CG for 2 days then moving onto the New Forest for a week I am dressed in what I would describe as smart casual.

Nice grey/black/silver striped sweater with a slightly nautical feel.
Light grey woolly cotton jacket embellished with an Art Deco style brooch
Dark Grey comfy trousers from M & S - good for the journey.
Purple suede and leather flat shoes from Hotter, can't wear heels now.

Admittedly I am not a fashion icon because comfort is my aim.

Having spent a few hours with my two young boys I will be looking as if I have been dragged through a hedge backwards, as my mother used to say. grin

Thin black patterned crossover top over black vest. Black velvet trousers and black waterfall cardigan, shocking pink ballet type shoes. All M and S apart from shoes. I was teaching yr 5 on supply today and Head has strict dress code. Normally I wear jeans, and weather appropriate tops.

Khaki cotton cropped trousers, navy polo shirt, deck shoes, my Raybans and a baseball cap smile

Bogoff Thu 07-May-15 18:44:13

Wearing my very best ripped jeans, holey tee shirt and scruffy jumper, a picture of elegance smile. My excuse - decorating.

Earlier this afternoon I was in a long dress, curly blonde wig, heels and a pink feather boa and lots of (fake) diamonds. Three of us were rehearsing a song (diamonds are a girl's best friend) for a forthcoming concert. None of us are good singers but we always look great!

Well it is still cold here so I am wearing a long sleeved round neck t shirt, zipper woollen top, Jeans, socks and ecco comfortable shoes. Roll on warmer sunny days!

I've been really slobby since I had a fall off some stepladders 4 weeks ago.
A comfy pair of sort of wooly trousers, with a jumper, wool if it's cold, synthetic if it's warm. Both pink.
Now that the weather is more like summer I'm thinking of changing into some lighter trousers, and cotton tops.
I've just ordered 2 new ones from Woolovers:

www.woolovers.com/cotton-silk/womens/grandad-shirt.aspx

one in coral, one in rose.
And I've got a length of material to make some more cool trousers.

I was wearing my favourite type of outfit today to meet a friend for a pub lunch - my new dark denim slim jeans, a loose three quarter sleeve t-shirt in 'kiwi', navy boxy cardi, navy lace-up shoes & a cheap necklace.

I enjoy reading what everyone likes to wear and, with my friends too, I feel that we are confident to wear exactly what we like and feel comfortable in (and that suits what we're doing) rather than trying to impress anyone else. As a result, I think we ladies of a certain age look great whatever we choose!

annodomini Thu 07-May-15 17:29:08

in face in fact!

annodomini Thu 07-May-15 17:28:50

A going-out-to-lunch kind of outfit. Royal blue top, black long cardi, black trousers and Hotter loafers. Quite subdued in face.

Yet another tiered skirt, multi coloured, with a white t-shirt, and the same old red slippers. I don`t go out or receive visitors very often, as you can no doubt tell.
Oh, and I love pleated skirts, but don`t have a beige one!

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 16:42:21

I changed before I went out as the sun was shining after that rainstorm.

Navy slimleg per una trousers, blue and white top and navy quilted gilet with a blue scarf.
Still wore my plodding flyflot shoes though!

tanith Thu 07-May-15 14:48:07

Today its a pair of just below knee black leggings , a blue mans shirt with sleeves rolled up and pink flip flops.. I did change into a nice flowery black tunic top to go and vote but now back in blue shirt , I was going to garden but its freezing when the sun goes in so I gave up on that idea.

M&S navy leggings, navy Seasalt tunic (lovely Christmas gift from mother in law), pink and black scarf, pearl necklace/earrings, black indoor pumps. Visitors from France arriving at any moment.

whitewave Thu 07-May-15 14:26:06

Yellow t-shirt and brownish trousers with a gilet if I go into the garden - although I have just come in as I need to plant up a shady area and it is too chilly will wait until the morning when it gets sun.

hildajenniJ Thu 07-May-15 14:25:09

I am wearing the same dark grey needlecord jeans as yesterday. I also have a tee-shirt and over that, a purple fleece sweater. We turned off our heating and it's a bit parky in Northumberland today, even though the sun is shining.

nonnasusie Thu 07-May-15 14:09:47

As I'm not going anywhere today and it's about 34c I'm wearing an old pair of shorts and an even older "vest" type t-shirt.sunshine I hasten to add that I wouldn't appear in public dressed like this!!

oznan Thu 07-May-15 10:35:22

Black jeggings and a bright pink jumper, comfy trainer-style shoes and a black jacket with hood for dog-walking.

janerowena Thu 07-May-15 10:27:18

It sounds rather lovely, caz!

cazthebookworm Thu 07-May-15 10:18:54

Too shy blush

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 10:06:55

We look forward to a photo on another thread caz grin

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 10:05:54

I do have beige things, and was going to put on a beige long cardigan but it has angora in it which shreds all over black trousers!
I also have a warm beige cashmere jumper, v neck, but I don't think I wore it at all last winter, it can't have been that cold. I hope the moths haven't munched through it.

cazthebookworm Thu 07-May-15 10:05:41

The sun is out, so just for a change I shall be wearing my tutu and pink feathers in my hair.grin grin

janerowena Thu 07-May-15 09:59:52

The thing is - beige can look really good. Not head to toe, obviously, but I have a lovely cashmere cardigan in beige, and a top and also a cowl neck cashmere pullover. I think there is a beige cashmere coat buried in the dark depths of my coat wardrobe too, somewhere. Although I expect the moths have eaten it, it's so long since I wore it.

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 09:53:52

Beige pleated skirt, white nylon blouse, beige cardigan and crimplene jacket.

grin

Just joking! Probably black trousers or jeans, stretchy top and long taupe/black cardigan. Black flyflot slipons
Quite boring - I am very impressed at how trendy you all sound!

And a waterproof, having just heard the rain tipping down - or it could be hail shock

janerowena Thu 07-May-15 09:52:57

I want to do some gardening today, so dark skinny jeans, long green vest top and long black and green striped stretchy t-shirt over that. A long dark green cardigan will go over that if I feel cold outside. Slippers currently, nephew's old boots for the garden. grin

Tonight it's knitting club, so black skinny jeans, cream, brown and magenta phase eight top and little magenta three quarter sleeve cardigan. Smart little comfortable Hotter ankle boots, as I shall walk up to the village hall to vote before going on to knitting club and it will be a bit of a trek.
