How do you take care of wrinkles on your face? Since it is so stressful to see the wrinkles especially around my eyes these days, I want to know what I should do with them or what products I should use for them.

I was served in a shop today by a very young girl. Her hair was dyed jet black; she wore heavy black eye make up and her eyebrows were heavily pencilled in and looked very thick and black. She had a thick layer of foundation on and it was not a good look.
I couldnt help wondering what her natural face looked like under all that stuff.
I wouldn't worry about a few wrinkles, I think we look better than she did, and she's probably 50 years younger than most of us.

I've noticed this in young women caked with heavy make up and they obviously don't need it.
It's just " the fashion" I'm afraid. In the 60s we wore a flesh coloured , pale lipstick. My friend's mother always said that we all looked as if we'd had heart attacks.

Yes that’s true.

I have a friend who has spent long periods over many years hot climes, so her face is full of wrinkles. She is not happy with them and spends a fortune on skin treatments, but still looks the same to me.
I have fewer wrinkles but havnt been to the places she has seen, and I rather wish I had.
Aren’t wrinkles inevitable?

Some wrinkles are inevitable in the end, but people who don’t sunbathe or smoke or live in cooler climates are less likely to get very many.

I simply avoid looking in the mirror. Problem solved.

I've watched some extraordinary TikTok reels of Aussie ladies having face lifts in Thailand & they look good! I noticed most of the women were extremely wrinkled even in their 50s so I guess many of us in the UK or colder climes are lucky in the skin department, despite us moaning about the weather!

my wrinkles take care of themselves and. are coming along nicely smile

I am convinced that feeding your skin just attracts wrinkles to congregate like collagen vampires, sucking you dry. Skincare addicts should just say no to cracks.

Wrinkles got no care and attention whatever from me , so the deprived starvelings packed their eye bags and left for richer pickings; not so much as a line to say goodbye.

I don't care, you can't miss what you never had.

I've just started using a retinol serum each evening. Read about what this is supposed to do so treated my self to a bottle from Holland and Barrett. As I went to pay they told me it was on offer so that was nice to hear. Just hope it helps if not with current wrinkles but with preventing anymore!!

It seems that Boots no 7 serum is now available at Amcal and Guardian pharmacies in Australia under the name of Serum 7 and Serum 7 lift , Moonbeames .

Do you know what, I think you may be right and I might just do that! Thanks again Wilks wink

You too have a debilitating illness and are just as deserving of the doctor's time as anyone else. To coin that loathsome L'Oreal phrase: because you're worth it'! Go for it girl!

cupcake1 Sat 22-Aug-15 11:28:46

Thank you Wilks for your kind words. I expected a 'get a grip' reply if anything and no, you're not being intrusive. I had considered the doctor but don't want to take his time or his patients trying to get an appointment for debilitating illnesses. I keep telling myself I will have to live with it or relent to surgery as feasibly those are my options. I've tried the Venus freeze and after five sessions at £100 a pop found little or no improvement. Unfortunately there is no magic cure and cellotaping my face back is not a good look!

So sorry to hear of your distress Cupcake1. You don't sound pathetic at all but clearly you are badly affected by you wrinkles. Doesn't seem to bother your husband or family so perhaps some sort of support group would help. I don't mean to sound like an agony aunt but do you think you should talk to your doctor about your feelings? Hope I'm not being too intrusive. All the best.

I have cheek wrinkles and am so conscious of them it's actually affecting my lifestyle. I know it shouldn't because I've got a wonderful hubby and loving family and in relatively good health so I should be happy with my lot but most days I'm consumed with negativity and lack self confidence. As I'm typing this I know I sound pathetic but that is how it is. Ive tried most creams/moisturisers/oils on the market and spent a fortune in the process. Botox does not work on cheek wrinkles (I've been to a specialist) and I dont want to go down the fillers/facelift route but feel this may be my only option.

Does anyone know what the Boots Serum no 7
would be in Australia? Would appreciate the tip.

Misha14 Thu 20-Aug-15 19:37:56

Forget the wrinkles and what you look like. Get out there and enjoy your life.

Lona Thu 20-Aug-15 19:31:09

bikergran I use Cyclax vit E cream, have done for years, it costs £1 from the pound shops! I use it every morning after washing my face and I have hardly any wrinkles, according to my friends. wink

I have to say that glasses don't help at all. Without them, my face looks good with my haircut, eyes look nice with black mascara, earrings look fab with the whole look..................then I put my glasses on!! I say back to candles in the evening and no more electric light.

I use Boots serum by the way; it helps!

Bamm Thu 20-Aug-15 18:53:38

Yes I agree. I have found Boots serum to be very good under moisturizer. Improves texture and wrinkles look softer.

Reading about wrinkles reminded me of a story of my dear aunt who, at age 86, had one of her cateracts done. When I phoned her the next morning and asked how she was she said she was not very happy. I was concerned she was in pain or it hadn't worked. 'Oh no it's not that', she said, 'I didn't know how wrinkled I was until I looked in the mirror after taking the bandage off'. I don't know what she expected to see at her age.
