Longer-length t-shirts

Am heading over to the UK next week and need to buy some short-sleeved, longer-length t-shirts to wear over leggings. This is my in-house winter uniform so I don't want to spend much as they will undoubtedly get splashed with cleaning and cooking. Size 10-12 and nice colours, not M and S fluo orange or lime-green. I may be able to get to Bluewater to have a decent range of shops.
Thanks in advance for any ideas of where to look. grin

If it's just a plain t shirt you want try the men's sections. Same materials, same colours, longer and often cheaper.

I have to admit, that link to Long Tall Sally does tempt me...

The other thing I do is buy jersey dresses on eBay and cut a few inches off the bottom. Sometimes what is sold as a dress only comes to just below my bottom anyway!

Thanks all. Will have a look at some men's t-shirts. As I said up thread, tunics are mostly long-sleeved and too thick and I only need one layer in this house! It is difficult because I only have a few days to shop, deliveries are difficult to time and the thing I really like about coming to England is the chance to go shopping! I think Cotton Traders do deliver here though. I used to buy from them when we lived in England, but found the t-shirts went out of shape round the neck quite quickly, have they improved that? I can also get Land End delivered here but they have got very expensive.

I've still got some Cottontraders Tshirts from 2002. I know that was the date because I bought them to wear when first Grandson was born in Kuwait and I went over to help. Long sleeves etc, they wash well. But I don't think they use the same quality cotton now.

Think they missed a trick not letting you search for their stores, but the nearest Primark to Tunbridge Wells is the Maidstone one - 15 miles away!

Primark Stores Ltd
62 - 64 Week Street

Maidstone (Kent)

Uniqlo do lovely long tee shirts which are not baggy, they are cheap and wash well, but there's not much on their website at the moment - wrong season I suppose.

I find TK Maxx is always good for a look, as they tend to have all seasons, all styles, at all times and all price ranges. You'd need a bit of time though to sort through it all.

Mamie Fri 09-Oct-15 15:43:13

NanaRayna I think it is hilarious that I wasn't allowed to search for where the Primark stores are. Obviously classified information. grin
I don't think I can get to Maidstone but I can go to Uniqlo at Bluewater and to TK Maxx.
Off to catch the ferry tomorrow, so I will let you know how I get on....

IBought long length vest style tops in dunns, very reasonable and Aldo long enough for leggings. I am quite tall 5ft 7.

Try Cotton Traders, they have a good website. Have had many different items of clothing from them with no complaints.

Well you are all right, no longer-length t-shirts anywhere.
However, my daughter gave me a pair of cast-off harem trousers (one of the joys of getting down to size 10 is that you get cast-offs from your daughter) and they are so comfortable that I have bought another pair, adopted them as my new winter uniform and can wear them with my ordinary length t-shirts.
I decided I needed a new coat and yesterday found a navy Max Mara wool and cashmere coat in a charity shop. It is beautiful.
I love shopping smile.

Wow mamie size 10! Hadn't you already slimmed down from a 14 to a 12? smile

Grannyknot Tue 13-Oct-15 09:57:49

Great find in the charity shop. I fancied a Laura Ashley faux leather biker jacket (it's in a nice darkish grey) but couldn't justify the cost (£120) because I didn't really need it. Anyway I kept going back to the website and lo and behold one fine day last week it was on sale at £35. Job done. I love it!

Mamie Tue 13-Oct-15 12:29:33

I started off at a size 16 before the diet GK! Mind you I would have to say that I don't think I would fit into the size 10 clothes from the last time I was a size 10 (roughly 1998).
You definitely get more choice in the smaller sizes in charity shops though. I paid £50 for the coat but looking on the MM website it probably started out at about £800 so feels like a real bargain. grin

Cotton Traders are good for long t shirts. If you look on line it says how long they are. I wear them all the time, winter and summer, and find them great. They do a lot of nice colours and wash well.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 13-Oct-15 22:39:22

Grannyknot do you mean the charity shop was asking £120 for the jacket before it was reduced? shock

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 13-Oct-15 22:57:44

It's ages since I had a good look at the Cotton Trader's website, but I am glad I did because I think I will get a pack of these tunics -

www.cottontraders.com/pack-of-2-tunics/invt/aa13371

100% cotton, v-neckline and 3/4 sleeve - perfect!

Might get the other style too if I really like the first pack.

Thanks for the recommendations ladies! flowers

I finally tracked down some t-shirts in Gap, with 70% off. Just need to remember to wash them on 30° now!

Lots of websites do a Tall option now, including Next and Dorothy Perkins. Only thing is I find you have to often get a size smaller because somehow Tall also seems to equate wider...
