Hair straightening brush anyone?

Are you talking about the rotating one NotTooOld? If so they are brilliant , I bought one a while ago and can't praise it highly enough, it saves me lots of time trying to straighten my curly hair . I haven't used any other kind I'm afraid

Why do we curly girls always want straight hair?
In the 60's I even ironed my hair, sellotaped the fringe down, and once tried perming it straight.
Recently I discovered Curly Girls Handbook online and have been looking a blogs and websites on embracing our curly hair and loving it. There are lots of tips about how to get the best from our curls and the best ways of washing/drying to encourage curls rather than frizz.

(But I have to admit to loving the feeling - when I straightened my hair a couple of years ago with straighteners - of the swinging of my hair when I moved my hair around! Never get that with curly hair!!

I shall look that up immediately!! I wish I could make my curly hiar look good but it just looks dowdy if I leave it alone.

Same here Teetime, it looks like a scraggy perm and everyone says when I straighten how healthy my hair looks and how much younger I look I should be so lucky. I do stick with it curly some days but other days I just want to see shiny straight hair in the mirror.

This is the one I bought and it is excellent once you get the hang of it..at first I didn't think I would like it but once I got it right it works well. Not for very short hair though, mine is just below my ears but longer on top.. the brush would be too big for very short hair.. make sure you buy the one with the smaller brush as they do a 42mm and a 50mm for longer hair.

I used to battle with my curly hair too and like Nanabelle used sellotape on mine to try and get the "Twiggy" look (not that my figure was anything like hers ). All I ended up with was marks on my face where the sellotape had been!!!. Now I go "au naturale" most of the time because in summer it's too hot to bother with extra heat and in winter it's too damp and it just goes frizzy. I sometimes make an effort if going somewhere special but that's all! My poor DD has inherited the curly hair too!!

I wish my hair was properly curly but it's really just wavy and not in a good way. I've grown it nearly to my shoulders and gone through phases of straightening it, curling it and leaving it au naturelle. I hate spending ages on my hair but I think au naturelle looks a bit mad and very straightened hair looks a bit flat, so I wondered if the straightening brush would be the answer. The one advertised on FB is not a rotating one (you can see it on Amazon if you search 'hair straightening brush') but I will certainly check out your link, tanith, thank you.

tanith - that does look good, as though it would straighten but not give that too flat look. It gets very good write-ups, too. I've put one in my basket. Thanks for the tip.

I hope you get on with it and it works for you I can now straighten my hair in 10 mins where it used to take forever with my straighteners...

Jus popped back again to say that the Babyliss rotating hot brush arrived very promptly and I used it the next day. It is great and very easy to use - thanks for the tip, tanith. As I hoped, it straightens without giving that flat look. I did it yesterday and the style is still there today. Excellent. Thanks again.

It's a great product, had one for about two years now.

Glad that it worked out NotTooOld it certainly saves me heaps of time and stops the arm ache of holding a brush and dryer for ages..

NotToOld I'm so glad your brush arrived and that it works for you I have had one for a while now and wouldn't be without it,I don't have curly hair but it does have a sort of wave to it which doesn't straight,my hair is very long and I find this brush gives it a good lift and plenty of body.

I have the standard size and the Big Hair size as the length of my hair fluctuates (I don't visit the hairdresser often enough!). I wouldn't be without them, they make hair styling really easy (when you get used to them) and quick.

The In-Styler rotating brush is pretty good too and very quick to use (http://www.instyler.co.uk/). It certainly works a treat on my shoulder-length thick hair, and it gives my hair a beautiful shine without adding any product to it. You might wish to check reviews first for those with fine hair.

Since I bought mine a year ago, they've now launched one that can be used on wet/damp hair, so even less time wasted on drying hair first and then styling, as you do both at the same time...!!

I use my Babyliss on damp hair and it works fine I just leave it for 20mins after washing and then use the brush I haven't used my hair dryer or straighteners since I bought it.
