My hair is grey and short. Toying with the idea of growing it again so I can wear it up or down. I'm 62 and 5'2". Any thought? I have been told that my hair is a good shade! ??

Am 60. Have longish hair. It’s quite mouse so I have highlights. Every now and then I have 2/3 inches lopped off. No grey yet but a lot of auburn underneath.

Am toying with the idea of a bob. Thinking I’m a bit old for this. I grew it long after having short for years. Started in 2017 and it grew fairly quickly.

OP, if you want to, grow it. It’s a Labour of love getting it there but you can always have it shorter again, if you get fed up. I’d say condition is key. I take Imedeen Hair and Nails. Only 2/3 times a week otherwise it’s too conditioning.

This is zombie thread from 2015!!
Having said that was lovely to see some of the 'old' names on there.?

I'm 66 and have hair almost to my waist; originally mid-brown with natural golden-blonde highlights when I was yoinger but now very much pepper and salt. I like having long hair despite my Mum telling me that I should have my hair cut short as I'm "too old for long hair".

Lots of hairdressers seem to be scissor-happy when faced with a lady of my age who wants to not only keep her hair long but also to grow it even longer. In 2015 I could sit on the ends of my hair but after a disastrous visit to a salon who cut off 12" hair when I only asked for half an inch, I now have a strong distrust of hairdressers in general. It's taken me seven years to get my hair back down to my waist and will probably take another couple of years before I can properly sit on my hair again..

Why should I have to wear my hair in an unflattering and ageing poodle perm or boring bob cut purely on the grounds of my AGE ? angry

I have a Bob clobden and it’s certainly not a boring one! I’m almost your age and I prefer my hair in that style,I’m not in the least bit surprised that the hairdressers get a bit scissor happy when faced with hair that length but each to their own of course! I would think it’s a bit of a rarity.

My hair is below my shoulders. I certainly wouldn’t want it longer and waist length would be a complete no no. Have always thought bobs a bit mumsy.

There are several different types of Bob hairstyles germanshepherdsmum I don’t consider my Bob mumsy I love mine, I’ve had several versions wavy Bob, dragged through the hedge backwards Bob ?, longer Bob, short Bob, various colours, but never mumsy or boring,

I bit the bullet two weeks ago and had my just below the shoulder length hair cut to below my ears. The hairdresser cut it into a bob with a side parting, my fringe... which i had been trying to grow out.....she cut slanted on the side of the parting. I hate it!!!! its lies flat and lank looking, the fringe part is too long and flops forward everytime i move my head and the sides fall forward as well. I have booked an appointment with another hairdresser today to have it sorted out, i cant do a thing with it as even after washing it lies the way she cut it. I am heartbroken and just dont feel like myself anymore. Anyone thinking of doing this due to pressure from others take heed. I realise now i should have just had a couple of inches taken off the length and my fringe cut back in properly. Before, i could brush my hair tie it up or put in an updo without needing a mirror, now i constantly check my hair and cry inside when i see it!!!
