Flakey skin

My face, especially my nose has started flaking recently, no matter how much moisturiser I slather on at night. It's an unlovely look, especially when I try cover it up with makeup and it just looks worse. More flakes! I don't really exfoliate regularly so I thought I'd give that a go. Has anyone had a similar problem and what did you use to sort it out? Any recommended products?

My doctor prescribed a cream called Ialuset when IK had a wound on my leg, to help it heal.
I looked it up and found it's the basis for these expensive rejuvenating creams. You can buy it online, here's one link:

I did seem to work like magic.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream sorts out most things I find. But if you're looking for an exfoliator, I found Clinique's 3 step thing quite good. They feel quite harsh on the skin (the toner especially) but I also had the off patch of flakiness and it disappeared within a day or two of using it (and came back again when I tried to stop!)

I'm wondering if it (the flakiness is nutritional) you might like a look at your diet to see if you have the right balance of mineral and vitamins. Other than that I think I would take myself to a beautician for a consultation. Skin does dry as you get older. I get a flaky patch on my face occasionally but have cured it mostly by NOT using toner especially Clinique using a creamy wash off cleaners (Liz Earle Boots No7 or Clarins and a soft cloth which should be all the exfoliation you require on a daily basis) then Clinique Moisture surge in the winter when its dryer due to central heating.

My younger sister has extremely dry skin and was facing same problem of flaking skin. Her natural remedy is very simple, that is to apply essential oils at bed time and giving a few minutes massage with massager from www.cellublue.com/. This helps her skin to be moisturized and glowing in morning. Remember not to use face wash frequently instead use olive oil that have properties of cleansing as well as moisturizing.

I would also up your fluid intake and just wondering if you have a low fat diet? My skin deteriorated when I cut out as much fat as possible and improved when I took a Cod liver oil capsule daily.

I use an exfoliator by St Ives especially for mature skin, it's quite cheap but effective. I has a blood test last time I had very dry skin ( a coincidence) and my thyroid levels were wrong, my dry skin cleared & nothing was found on a further thyroid test . GP daid viruses can affect thyroid but it clears when the virus is beaten
