that you still wear? An earlier thread about elderly people not buying new clothes made me think about it.
I have a navy wool jacket, Jaeger, that my Mum bought me for my 60th birthday, and in the winter I wear it most days.
It's a dated fashion, boxy style with square shoulders. I spent an hour yesterday repairing the lining which was showing signs of wear, otherwise it's still in good condition.

I still wear a navy top from Etam that my daughter used as her school jumper around 1990 smile

My great grandmother's mink opera cape, circa 1900!
I don't know why I keep it, I wouldn't go out wearing it, I'd look daft walking around Aldi in jeans and a mink cape!
It hangs in the back of the wardrobe looking beautiful, that's its role in life!

A pair of dainty cloth shoes. I can still wear them but the soles are slippery.
I've had them for at least 30 years. Also a light weight pin stripe jacket, must have had it for the same amount of time.

The old style uniform did not attach ...here it is now (I hope!)

I have a Versace copy jacket that I bought in a charity shop in Huddersfield back in 1996. I love it and have had compliments about it from a variety of women of all ages, including one from a tres chic French lady!

I have a Jaqumar scarf that belonged to my grandmother and I wear it and think about her when do. It must be 1950s. Also a fabulous silver fox stole that I wore to my youngest daughters wedding two years ago 1930s. And and ermine cape of the same era which was worn by the bride.

My oldest item was my M&S Uniform from when I was 16. I will try to attach a photo of me taken some 50 years later while working as a Christmas temp back in M&S wearing the new uniform. I have since donated the old style uniform to their Museum!!!

Black velvet wrap belonged to my mum in the 50's. I began wearing it as a scarf in the 70's and still do. It often gets admired.

I still have my wedding dress from 35yrs ago and can still get into it. I knitted a thick wool jacket from scraps of wool 26 yrs ago and wear it most days when dog-walking.

I have a navy trench coat that I bought in 1986 that I still wear.

a beaver lamb fur coat bought for me when I was 21 (in 1951) and which I wear when it snows.

I have a 7 year old Laura Ashley Navy wool full length coat that is too big for me but I cant bear to part with it as its almost new and such good quality. Other than that nothing older than a couple of years. I keep it minimal and fill the regular charity bags that come through the door.

Tricia You must wear your leather jacket - the more often you wear something the less expensive it becomes on a cost per wear basis.
Anyway I am sure you will look fabulous in it. I'm envy

A size 12 M&S paisley-patterned cotton mini- skirt I used to wear in 1967. I keep it for a laugh because if I drape it round my body now there is a gap of at least 6" between the buttons and button holes. I also have a 1967 coat bought from the now defunct Augusta Fashions in Plymouth for £11.50 in their sale. It's Mornessa brand, blue & green fine wool very stylish and should really be in a costume museum I think. These pieces remind me of myself when I was an idealistic, innocent type, instead of the cynical old hag I am now!

I still have two crocheted ponchos and two crocheted shawls I made in the 1960s. One loosely made poncho makes a lovely scarf in the winter as does one of the shawls and so are occasionally still worn smile

Obviously not worn but I still have my first baby nightie which looks highly flammable in a sort of flannel now 78 years old and my wedding dress 57 years old and several sizes too small?

TriciaF Sat 30-Jan-16 19:56:34

Glad I'm not alone smile
I finally bought a leather jacket, but brown, not pink - I daren't wear it , it's too trendy. More for spring days though.

I haven't got any old clothes. Need the wardrobe space for new. Oxfam does well out of me.

loopylou Sat 30-Jan-16 17:29:07

Until recently it was a reversible Puffa jacket with zip out sleeves, bought December 1993 for my 40th birthday.

Daddima Sat 30-Jan-16 17:22:12

I have a long black tailored coat in a very light material. I bought it in a sale around 1990 ( reduced from £100 to £50), and I still wear it occasionally. It's also been borrowed by friends for " dress up" nights out.

A lime-green poloneck ribbed jumper. Very trendy in approx 1968, when I got it. Now quite tatty but with only the neck showing, under another jumper, still okay for casual wear and it keeps me cosy.

I have a black velvet top made by my gran when she was in her 20s. She gave me it in the late 70s. I used to wear it a lot but don't go that many places where it would be appropriate now. The lining is fraying a bit but it still fits and looks OK. Gran died in 1989 aged 90.

rosesarered Sat 30-Jan-16 15:14:46

A Damart scarf, bought as a present for me circa 1972.

Greyduster Sat 30-Jan-16 09:50:52

A red half zip sweatshirt which DD bought in 1986 and then decided she didn't like so was going to throw out. I 'rescued' it and have worn it ever since. It isn't any special make, but it has never lost it's colour (unlike some of the Benetton ones i had) and washes beautifully. It shows no sign of wearing out and i love it. DD said just before Christmas "I can't believe you're still wearing that old thing!"

ninathenana Sat 30-Jan-16 09:34:35

Oldest item I still wear is plain black blazer. It only comes out about 2-3 times a year. It must be 20+ years old. I do wear it undone these days grin
There is also a bridesmaids dress DD wore when she was 3. She will be 29 this year.
