Where do you buy your underwear?

Although my name suggests otherwise I am far from tiny. Been a bit disappointed with M&S of late. Where do you buy your smalls? And not so smalls? grin

Grannee, Coolgran is right; and you are probably wearing the wrong size bra.
Perhaps if you go for a fitting (a smaller specialist shop rather than M&S) they will advise you.
Apparently the majority of us estimate what size we need and are wearing the wrong size!

One reason for bra straps slipping is that a narrower back is needed.
I found that it also took a change in style to keep my straps in place. Lots of fancy pretty bras have wide set straps. I choose a full cup bra where the straps sit more on the centre of the shoulder.
A few years back I had a style called Esme which had wonderful straps that were centred to the back.

Great thread - but - please can anyone tell me why my bra straps refuse to stay on my shoulders? angry

Bethan I think M&S (probably larger branches) do post op bras.
After years of wearing underwired bras I've turned to non wired & they are so much more comfortable & I can't see a shape difference (t shirt or slightly padded). The M&S wired one with back shaper is comfortable tho. Was walking through Tesco & picked up a 2 pairs as cheap as chips & they're great!

Another Prima Donna Deauville fan here. Though wish I could buy from M and S . Could have paid for a reduction by now!!

It seems I'm of similar proportions as Coolgran so it's Bravissimo for bras. To quote Ninathenana, my back to cup ratio is non-standard... Pants I buy anywhere I see some I like. The last three pairs I bought on offer at Matalan.

If anyone is near Reigate, there is a shop called All About You just off the High Street. Juliet the owner is very helpful and she will order for you - all sizes and shapes not just the usual ones. Really recommend.

Marisota often have special offers on Sloggi underwear, I have a drawer full of them at the moment - all black! I have been successful buying bra's on-line from Suzanne Charles, once I found one which was both comfortable and reasonably attractive, I stuck with that style. Cotton and no wires! One contributor to this thread asked about post-op bra's and I believe there are quite a lot of companies specialising in these. It's worth looking in the classified ads in the back of magazines - I have just checked my "W.I. Life" and there is a company on line www.nicolajane.com who specialise in bras and tops for post-op ladies. Might be worth a try!

I too prefer under wired full cup bras. Those are what I get from R and P - Prima Donna's Deauville style. Love them. V comfortable and well worth the money.

I think the last time I wore a matching set was probably when all underwear was white, take it or leave it!

oldie730 Sat 19-Mar-16 15:06:14

Sports bras from M & S, not pretty and only in white or black, but no wiring or padding, wide shoulder straps and so comfortable. Long given up playing sports and only exercise walking my dog, housework, etc. Pants from M & S, Matalan when Sloggi on offer. Must be 50/60 years since I wore matching sets! shock

I seem to be in the minority here, preferring underwired bras with full cups. When I have tried non-wired they ride up when I raise my arms, therefore needing frequent adjustment. I have found Goddess Kristen on Ebay for £10.99, but they appear to be old stock so I have bought several before they sell out. They come in pretty pearlized jewel colours like opal blue, pearl, peach, amethyst and ruby, which I match as closely as possible to whatever I am wearing.
Pants are M&S almost always black, occasionally flesh depending on which trousers I am wearing.
Some may find it shocking that I don't wear matching sets!blush

I don't like under wired bras, I find them uncomfortable as they always seem to dig in somewhere! However I have problems with finding non under wired and have got stuck on M&S although I'm not entirely happy with them.HELPblush

Until recently have always bought both knickers and bras in M&S. However my bra size is only 34aa (yes, really is that small!) and except for 'first bras' M&S don't seem to make them that small any more. A Google search was made and I found the company Little Women who have a good choice and give very good service. Another failure by M&S to sell what is wanted.

Snap, townie! grin

I'm with you, janeainsworth. Triumph Amourette pants are the most comfortable and best! Been wearing them for years and stock up when on Sale. R + P for bras. Yes, expensive but perfect fit and long lasting, so they work out cheaper in the long run for me. I used to waste money on the high street looking for 'the one' and just ended up with a drawerful of uncomfortable mistakes.

townie Sat 19-Mar-16 13:18:31

Always Prima Donna from Rigby and Peller for bras.

henbane Sat 19-Mar-16 12:47:42

I used to buy M&S knickers, cotton with lycra high legs. They were comfortable & well fitting and I didn't have VPL problems.

The last time I bought some however they had changed the style - they now have side seams (far less comfortable than the old seam free ones) but worse, they have changed from a wide to a narrow elastic waistband and they keep rolling down. They are so irritating I don't use them unless I run out. The old ones are now falling apart and I have switched to Primark! - not as well cut but at least they stay in place.

Lupatria Sat 19-Mar-16 12:24:10

asda bras for me - underwired and slightly padded. they're a fantastic fit and I feel good in them ................... daren't browse in that department any more cos I can't fit any more in my drawers!!

I like the Triumph Amourette range and their t-shirt bras.

The trouble with finding something that is just perfect for you is that either it or you will have changed the next time you buy one. It's a constant struggle.

I've bought M&S pure cotton pants for years and years, changing from minis to midis as middle aged spread meant there was more to contain! I've tried others but never found any as comfortable.

Bras have been a nightmare as I've 'expanded', have tried the North East's bra 'guru' (other NEasterners will know who I mean, I'm sure) and a shop recommended by my daughter (forgotten the name) but ended up with hideously uncomfortable things that never really fitted properly. Recently went to M&S at the Metro Centre and was fitted by a lovely lady who obviously knew her job (I'd done a bit of internet research before I went) and now have some well fitting and comfortable cotton underwired bras. I'm very satisfied with M&S in this particular area.

paun Sat 19-Mar-16 11:53:28

Sainsburys for bras and MnS for knickers. I recently wanted a tummy control slip and found a great one at Sainsburys for 1/3 of the MnS price! wink

inishowen Sat 19-Mar-16 11:35:15

It surprises me that some are more comfortable not wearing a bra. I'm on the massive side, and so uncomfortable without support! I buy the Doreen bras, or M&S ones, but I've yet to find a bra that is perfect.

UkeCan61 Sat 19-Mar-16 10:30:57

M&S for pants and usually Triumph Bra's - comfy and they last for years and if handwashed always look nice. I. keep looking at Miss Mary of Sweden as they look super comfy. These days comfort is more important than anything.
I've tried M&S bras but find they dig in and don't stay in place.
