When should you get your hair cut! At seventy, I have good hair, lots of grey coming in, but I have a few highlights put in. Some of my friends say I would look younger if I had it chopped off, trouble is once it's one would I regret it, enjoy the fact that one bit of me is still ok.the rest is slowly giving up.

It’s a matter of personal taste/opinion. Don’t let people tell you you’re too old for certain things, unless of course it’s something obvious. I’ve seen older women with both short and long hair. They are both doable!

In my opinion, while short hair can give a youthful vibe, long hair can still look stylish and sophisticated at any age.

If you are considering a change, start with a small trim or try out a longer bob before making a big cut, that way you won't be committing to a drastic change right away.

Ultimately, go with what feels best for you!

It’s great that you have such healthy hair at seventy—that’s something to celebrate! When deciding whether to cut it, think about what makes you feel good and confident. Shorter hairstyles can look chic and youthful, but if you love your longer locks, there’s no rush to change. Perhaps try a gradual change, like adding layers or going a bit shorter, to see how you feel before a big chop. Also, highlights are a wonderful way to maintain vibrancy. Ultimately, your hair should reflect your style and bring you joy!

henbane - just to let you know the post chemo texture may well return to normal in time. I had chemo 20+ years ago and the first couple of yrs afterwards my hair was all frizzy tight curls with lots of grey coming in at the front and top. Made me look like an old granny and I was only 38 so I dyed it, blow dried it and grew it long again. Over the years the texture has softened , the curls have turned into waves and now I've stopped colouring I realise the grey has hardly increased at all smile . Eyebrows were always sparse anyway so no change there! The chemo experience is one of the reasons I revel in having it longish now and will never have it short again unless it gets really thin or I can no longer look after it long. Good luck with everything

My hair is ridiculously fine and fairly thin, so I can do nothing with it. I've invested about a tenner in three clip-on hair pieces (in different shades to match my various hair colours) and they look okay. I only wear them on nights out, but I've been complimented on them and asked where I had my hair done, which is a novelty for me! I just tell the truth, I'm not embarrassed at all, just pleased that they "pass" smile

I did buy and wear a wig and standing one day at the checkout a neighbour complimented me on my hair. I felt embarressd but pleased but the damm thing gave me such a headache I was glad to take it off again. Its now used for dressing up and causes a lot of laughs. The last one to wear it was my grandson!
For me it was back to my own hair and I live in hope of a miracle shampoo.

Thanks for the good wishes - I'm fine now (touches wood). The texture change may be linked to it's being much greyer now! Everything else seems pretty normal though my eyelashes and eyebrows are still a bit sparse. Incidentally I lost all my body hair except - to add insult to injury - the hair on my legs, so I still had to shave them.

Short hair looks ok on me but I do regret the versatility of long hair which you can wear up, down, tied back etc. What I was trying to say is, don't cut it off until you have some reason to do it - age alone has nothing to do with it!

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 10-Apr-16 01:46:16

hen I'm sorry too about losing your hair. How strange it should grow back with a different texture. flowers

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 00:49:54

I'm really sorry you lost your hair henbane. It must be traumatic for you. I hope you are better now.

henbane Sun 10-Apr-16 00:42:24

I lost my hair 2 years ago to chemotherapy. It's short now because I can't face the long wait to regrow it, even if the original texture came back (it's really wiry now). Enjoy it while you can! When it gets too wiry, or too thin, or you just can't be bothered to take care of it - then cut it.

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 00:24:15

Hey! That's clever, Bo!

boheminan Sun 10-Apr-16 00:17:14

...does that mean you'll have a wot not? (Sorry, I'm going to bed now) better duck on me way outshock

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 00:10:20

I bet you'll look great! My bun things don't look very savoury and partner thought they were pan scourers! I'll probably get cross with them and hurl them out of the window. I'd rather have a semi messy topknot do.

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 09-Apr-16 23:57:03

I might wear the wig the next time I meet some friends for lunch. They think I'm half daft anyway, so it will give them a laugh! grin

Love your description of your bun bits! Must admit, I'm not keen on the current fashion for the cottage loaf sitting on top of your head. It needs to sit back a bit imho. wink Look forward to hearing how you get on tomorrow! grin

wot Sat 09-Apr-16 23:43:35

They were blonde coloured spongy sausage looking things with a snap fastener and a elastic band. You have to roll your hair round it and plonk it on top of yer 'ed. One of them is massive and resembles a cottage loaf.

wot Sat 09-Apr-16 23:39:15

Wilma, why not wear your wig. If you put grips in it along the ear it won't show. I used to go ice skating in mine and it never fell off. One of mine used to have a scalp looking thing along the parting.

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 09-Apr-16 23:20:17

My Mum had a white head for her wig, so I bet it was polystyrene. I drew a face and hair on it - badly of course! grin

What kind of bun thing did you get in the end wot?

wot Sat 09-Apr-16 23:12:36

I used to wash my wigs and bung them on a polystyrene head. My sister's 2 year old boy used to be terrified of the heads . I couldn't help laughing.
