Are girls today hardy or foolhardy?

I think they genuinely don't feel the cold because they're not shivering or looking as if they're uncomfortable. It makes me feel quite old to see them in short sleeves when I'm all huddled up in a quilted jacket.

I used to know a man (not young by any means) who wore shorts all year round. And they were SHORT shorts, you had to avert your gaze when talking to him or you were likely to see rather more of him than you wanted to!

I remember walking to a New Year's Eve dance in the 60's when the snow had stopped all the traffic. My friend and I wore our nice dance dresses under lots of woollies and a winter coat. We carried our shoes and wore fur boots. The idea of leaving coats and boots in a cloakroom seems to have been forgotten, so girls just don't wear them.

Most people are prepared to freeze for fashion, but I think you're right, the older one gets the more one feels the cold.

Apologies for typos I pressed send instead of preview

I've only been out one in just T-shirt I haven't worn a coat all winter as far as I can remember.
It's usually a long sleeved top and jacket or waterproof. I don't walk around town as there is nothing there ! So it's out the car into indoor shopping or the supermarket.
I too remember the walk home from the disco in just a dress nd quiet often carrying my shoes grin

I have been hot today, wearing T-shirt and cut-off jeans. I rarely feel the cold, sleep with just a sheet covering me, and Chillow cooling pads in the bed, all year round, and I am way past the menopause!

There are a couple that live locally that we often see walking in the village, always holding hands. She seems to be usually wearing a hat, gloves and scarf, whilst he is ALWAYS in shorts, even when (a few winters back) we had a fair few inches of snow. Very odd!

And the postmen in shorts even in winter.

It's not just youngsters either, I've seen some 40-somethings out and about without a coat (and sometimes wearing short sleeved tops) at the first hint of sun, even though the wind-chill factor makes it feel freezing to me! Still in me thermals and will be for the foreseeable...

They don't feel the cold , all the kids that go to Academy up the road from us go to school in either shirtsleeves or sweatshirts all through the Winter I rarely see them with coats on even when its chucking it down. They no longer have lockers or cloakrooms in schools so if they take a coat they have to lug it around school all day long. Maybe these young men and women got in the habit in high school and the habit lingers.

For summer read winter.

I think the young do not feel the cold, certainly not as much as I do nowadays. Although I have fond memories of walking to the disco with friends on a chilly November night all of us only wearing dresses. Taking a coat was too much faffing about. I have seen several men wearing shorts all through summer and not all of them postmen. I have only just washed and put away my duvet coat ready for next winter, yesterday I was thinking that was too soon, biting wind!

Same here, and the blokes too.
I was wearing my duvet coat.

The temperature has just made it into double figures today (10 degrees) although it is sunny, but with a biting cold wind.
I have seen no end of girls/young women who have clearly decided Summer has come, as evidenced by going out in sleeveless tops and t shirts!
But they are still wearing their Ugg boots so maybe some of them got cold feet about going the whole hog?
