Please can someone inform me on what to expect during a pedicure. I have never had on before. Do they remove hard skin and cut toenails like a chiropodist does before painting nails.

Please can anyone advise on make up when going abroad.

I am going on a 10day tour next year to India which will involve some very early morning starts and i am concerned about having to put on make up that early as it normally takes me a while to come to in the mornings!!!! lol.

I never go anywhere with out foundation and mascara. Is it worth having my eyelashes tinted, does this make your eyes look like you have mascara on. Any tips would be appreciated.

What a great holiday careof123. You will want your feet to look their best in sandals, so try a pedicure well before you are due to leave and have another just before you go. Usually the therapist will trim the toenails, push back cuticles and remove hard skin, very much like a podiatrist would. A good beauty therapist will also massage your feet which is the part I like best. I always choose a dark polish for my toenails which tones rather than contrasts with whatever I have on my finger nails. It's a long time since I lived in a hot climate and since I was young and tanned at the time, didn't need much make-up apart from navy blue eye liner - well, it was the 1960s! - and quite a pale lippy. I wouldn't have my lashes tinted since I have very sensitive eyes nowadays, but that's a personal choice and you might take advice from a good beautician and also find out what kind of foundation would be best in a hot climate - remember to get one with a sunscreen in it.

I once got my lashes tinted and it does make you look like you have mascara on all the time. I was always a bit startled to see the effect in the mirror. I think it would be a good idea, to save you effort in the mornings.

carerof123 I'm sure you already know this, but just in case . . . Please make sure that the salon/therapist does an allergy test 24 hours before you have your lashes tinted!

A friend of mine, who had her lashes tinted for her wedding, didn't have a test because she had been tinted previously and thought she'd be OK. She wasn't and on her wedding day looked as though she'd gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson shock sad

Thanks for the warning about eyelash tinting will definitely look into having this done and trying a pedicure.

I always have my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted before a holiday - it provides much needed definition without having to stand in front of the mirror before heading to the beach!

don't laugh, but.... I'm getting a spray tan with my daughter before we all go away to the States!!! never had one before, but it's the face I'm interested in. with a tanned face, you need far less makeup (so less time spent putting it on on holiday)

i think i said on another thread recently, but i've had eyelash extensions for a holiday before. mine are very short and having the extensions means i don't touch a drop of mascara the entire time i'm on holiday smile

I'm not sure I could bring myself to have a spray tan!! grin But I do use a good gradual tan moisturiser to build up a little bit of colour before I get on the beach. I consider it a mercy to the other beach goers...

Recently discovered the lash tint thing - never remember to wear make up unless going somewhere fancy so it's been brilliant

I have looked in my local salon brochure and it omits trimming of toe nails so if you specifically want that done choose a salon that does it. Most brochures give a small explanation of what is done for the money paid. I was also thinking about having a pedicure, hence my interest.
