Where can I buy jeans that don't stretch?

Definitely agree about nydj's. Got 2 pairs I bought on sale several years ago, a blue and black pair. Continue to look good, keep their shape, made for the more mature woman, last forever. But, as you say, hideously expensive. Plan to check them out when we're in the US later this year, as we haven't been for 5 years I think another pair is overdue! Other than that Per Una.

NYDJ, Lands End,and TU, please explain where these can be bought, I am a bit out of touch, not living in the UK, but we are visiting next week, and I would love to buy "normal" jeans, not the drainpipe ones, normal fitting, and short, any tips will be gratefully received,thank you.

Lands End online. It is 'mail' order, Tu, in Sainsburies but choose a good big store with a large area devoted to clothing. Someone else will have to tell you where NYDJ can be bought as I do not know.

John Lewis sell NYDJ's. But they can also be bought online. Expensive here but half the price in the US.

Glad I found this forum! Need to buy new jeans and was at a loss where to start the ones I have, that i love, are no longer made and no longer fit as I have put on weight they have shrunk. Will try M&S and Tu and maybe Uniqlo. Will have to look the latter up online as I don't know who stocks them

Uniqglo have shops in London , but they are mainly online. They are a Japanese company, I love their t shirts as well.

Thanks to posters for recommending Sainsburys jeans. I don't know how sell they'll stand up to wearing and washing but, first time on, I'm really pleased with them.

I've had some TU jeans for about 2 years and they are still going strong. As I said up thread, they are so cheap (I usually buy when they are 25% off) and I only wear them for 2 or 3 times before washing them so they are tight again.

TinyTwo, I know exactly what you mean. After a few hours wear the material in my jeans becomes really loose (M &S £39.50). After washing the material is fine for a few hours but then stretches again. I used to think it was the elastene in the jeans but I have a 100% cotton top which does the same. I bought it because the neck was high but now it has stretched just like my jeans and the neck is too low and the sleeves are very long.It's so frustrating. I do wonder if this just happens to prewashed jeans.

Head straight to your nearest Levi store. The girls are amazing and fitted me out with the most amazing pair of jeans ever. I wish I had know about them years ago, thinking they were just for young people. I have a wardrobe full of M&S jeans , nothing matches my Levis.

What a great post, I usually wear M & S jeggings which are almost like jeans with zip etc only lighter material, however, their sizes vary considerably and size 12 can be either far too small or too big depending on colour !! Ive a pair of Next premium luxe which are lovely but at £38 a bit pricy . Ive just ordered two pairs of Tu , so will be interested to see what they are like Thanks for all the recommendations. NYDJ sound amazing but we don't have a JL and I think I would prefer to try before I buy .

All this talk of fabulous fitting jeans has caused me to blow my pension on a pair of NYDJ's .... It's been twenty years since I bought a pair - let's see if they are still as good and do all the 'right' things ....??

I second TU. They do a high waisted skinny which are quite thick and should last.

I also like Matalan jeggings at the moment. They don't bag, are cheap, don't roll over.

I used to love the MandS jean/jeggings but they bagged terribly, were inconsistent size wise and developed random holes.

Disappointing, particularly as everyone was raving about them.

In case anyone interested. Tu clothing reduced by 25% until Monday.

I always get my jeans in Gap, they often have sales on and if you have the Gap app on your phone you get an extra 5% off every time you shop. I have found they wear very well, and they fit me well too

Jane 10 I'm glad I'm not the only baggy one ! . I can never get the sizings right with Lands End so prefer M& S. I am visiting UK next week so will look at other options.

I do live in NYDJs though. I have many pairs. All black and worn depending on how large I am at a time.

I have just bought a couple of new replacement everyday jeans from M&S and was advised to buy the ones which feel tight as they all stretch after a couple of hours wear. The ones I find best have a bit of stretch included as they do seem to keep their shape better.

Not as ££££ as NYDJ, I find the ones I get from Oasis hold their shape amazingly well and last for years. They don't go up a size and start bagging round the knees at all. The Cherry style I find very flattering. They're around £45.

I think jeans (and leggings) are best on the young - or the rare, exceptional oldies still in good shape. The stretchy ones may flatten tummies a little - but totally flatten baggy backsides. Do check your rear and side views before venturing out in them!
